  1. 1:30 – I appreciate your desire to reuse. And many things in Grandpa's garage can certainly be reused. But not all. And one must be careful to suggest this. Especially with chemicals and paints. In my Grandpa's garage were old paint with lead. And some with nasty paint solvents like Xylene. Especially for a young woman like yourself, of child bearing age, you do not want to be using or handling such chemicals. I do not know if the products you used from your Grandpa's garage were fine or not. I am simply pointing out that it may not be a good idea to make generic suggest suggestions, without warning (such as read all labels and not use if not sure of contents) off hand. As for others, what is in their Grandpa's garage may be toxic.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Can I give you guys another bit of advice? Please don’t use cement mortar for your external stone wall pointing or your interior wall finish. Cement (and concrete) traps condensation inside your home which leads to mold and mildew, and fungal rotting of internal wood studs.
Whereas traditional lime mortar pointing and wall rendering is breathable. Just a friendly heads up.
    Cheers!

  3. Hi Laura and Dan, just found your channel today and subscribed, the two of you are so adorable. Have you found your bathhouse steps to be difficult to use? Like baby steps?

There is a formula for steps based on an adult stride. For a minimum stride the formula is: 2 x the Rise, plus the Tread = 24 inches (2R+T=24). For taller people with a longer stride you could go to 28 inches.

No need to worry about what you’ve done, it’s all a learning process!

    😎

  4. Your outhouse looks really great and your artwork is very beautiful.
I was thinking maybe it would had been a good idea to staple some plastic to prevent the cold winter air to come inside but maybe the rodents will chew on it and make holes. Maybe foam insulation is better but it's a little costly. Maybe you can cover the holes with adobe, you probably have all the materials in your land already.
    Keep up the good work.😊👍

  5. Great work, you two. And I love your painting, Laura. Been watching for a while now and am really looking forward to seeing you guys start on the barn itself. Hope you get in there by winter!

  6. The outhouse looks nice it’s amazing what a person can do with little money the owl painting is very beautiful are you planning in the near future to renovate the barn into a house ? You both are really amazing

  7. Your owl was beautiful. We're our own worse critics. I admire it because I do not have the talent to paint, even though I've tried. I am crafty in other ways and so I use different avenues to express myself. But I always admire other people's talent.
