Building on our OFF Grid homestead in central Portugal. Working in my garden. Loving life!

We build a chicken coop on our homestead. Soon we hope to welcome them on our land. We had to slow down again because we were in a heatwave, hopefully the last one for a while.
We will start with a small flock of chickens so Dutch can get used to have other animals around hime.

I also did some work in the garden. It was necessary because Dutch loved to dig in it so there was not much left of what was planted.

We learn and grow as we go!

Thank you for supporting us by your encouragements and wonderful tips and advices 🥰

Blessings from,

  1. I grew up in Africa, and the best advice I have in dry countries for gardens is a trench system where you can run water in a trench and plant on the side and put straw over, so it do not evaporate easy, It works very well and I have fond memories of that and great harvest. Wishing you the very best

  2. Love your adventure and can't wait to see the great things you will do and teach your children a more healthy way of life. Are you thinking of renovating the stone house? Blessings from Canada.

  3. step by step you will get there life is a learning curve what does not work now is a step to a successfull next one ,nice chicken coop make the chicken run according to the number of chicken you will have or the bigger the better, and they are a lot of breeds get the one that are local and are good in hot and cold weather ,then another thing would you have chicken for meat or eggs because they are a lot of varieties some are good layers and some are excellent for meat and some are for both hope that helps thanks for sharing.

  4. Hello Bionda, when you said that you were going to have chickens, I thought of a family of English people who have a large farm in Fundão where they raise several animals. The channel's name is "Farmer for fun" and Josef is a person who, besides being very knowledgeable, is also a Gentleman, with a very good heart. I believe he would like to help you out and sell some chickens. He could also give guidance on the best to plant at this time. I think it would be interesting for all of you. I wish you the best of success.

  5. Every little job you do on your quinta as moving you forward. Even if crops don't grow, that's a lesson as to what will or won't work. Looking forward to seeing your new chickens ❤ May God bless you and family as you go forward in this new chapter of life 🤗
