Expats and retired on US Social Security, we put on our House Hunters International hats today. Yes you can have a luxury ski or golf lifestyle in Bansko Bulgaria. Today we look at affordable homes with great rental potential near the ski slopes in Bansko Bulgaria and at the Pirin Golf Course. For Expats and Retirees looking for that dream Golf or Ski lifestyle on a Social Security budget we made this video for you.
Bansko is just now showing up on the Expat radar, it’s already become a hit with the digital nomad crowd hosting the nomad fest each summer. If you’re seeking an active outdoor lifestyle with skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, hiking, biking, river rafting, hot springs, and spas Bansko has it. The year-round population of 13,000 swells for nine months of the year from mid-December for ski season through mid-September, for the cooler mountain air and summer sports activities. From mid-September to mid-December, it’s a slow sleepy tranquil town. Bulgaria has a low cost of living compared to most of Europe and the US, which means your dollar or Euro will take you further.
We recommend this location to healthy individuals, healthcare in the area is focused on injuries, emergencies, and common illnesses, there is not a major medical center in the area.
Bansko and the surrounding communities have a growing amount of foreigners calling the region home due to the low cost of living and quality of life. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,660 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,700 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a lower cost of living in Portugal when compared to the living costs in the US.

Do you want to live abroad as an Expat? Are you looking for affordable and viable options? During our slow travel retirement, we are exploring the world to see what it’s like to live in a country, and also discover if Residency is an option.
We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it’s like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.
We will make a commission on these links, your rates are not impacted.

Thanks guys. The prices are so reasonable for such a beautiful location.
Great Video! So interesting ❤️
Making money is an action. Keeping money is behaviour. Growing money is knowledge. Investing in crypto now should be in every wise individuals list, in some months time you'll be ecstatic with the decision you made today
Love your videos, I am seriously considering retiring to Bansko soon. I am interested in the premier mountain luxury resort, does it seem like its worth the extra money? Having a restaurant and hotel like amenities would be nice, but it might be overkill. I have thought about Baronets too, bc it is closer to Sofia. Do you guys like Barovets as well or do you prefer Bansko? Thank you.
Great info guys!
Can’t wait for you guys to come to Istanbul!
We would love to show you our place we bought and renovated. ☺️
This is where I was talking about ; best value retirement period….I will be there soon😊
Those maintenence fees of 10-12 are definitely on the high end, you should aim for 6
Looks nice though it seems during this time of year there’s no life ,
Awesome Video… Well done once again… Sounds like a Great place to retire…
How far is the communities you show cased from the main city where you can have amenities like hospital,. markets, restaurants / down town.
Hi W n J. Thanks for the Vlog. I am totally amazed at the real estate prices here. I dont understand how with this level of Amenities, a better than a resort setting the prices can be this low. I bet after watching this video the US expats are going to raid this place. Surely this is a place for even a lower middle income US retiree to enjoy a truly luxurious living. I liked the 1 BR unit (that was already sold) overlooking the fountains and the market area and the amazing views it had for the price. A nice balcony to just sit down relax and people watch and lead stress free life. Not a bad idea to buy a unit here as a permanent home to enjoy the European living shuttling between the Schengen and Non Schengen zones. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to show case nicer places out there.
How safe are regarding the rule of law in Bulgaria, what I mean is if you buy a property will it be yours – the government can’t take it away?
I'm not currently interested in real estate, but I really appreciate the great tour of Bansko and nearby areas.

There are furnished studios out by the golf course for well under 20K. Is there something wrong with them? Can places by the golf course realistically be rented out during ski season, given that there's a shuttle bus that runs regularly into Bansko?
I’m a horrible skier. LOL Do those ski resorts have snow tubing lanes?
