Buying a Car in Portugal Pt2 | Life Admin While Searching for my Farm

Part 2 of a 2 part series to find and buy a car in Portugal.

REVEAL! I reveal what I ended up buying!
I talk a little about the buying process and try to simplify things based on my experience. I discuss:
– the documents you need to buy a car
– car insurance types and costs
– documents for the insurance company
– and the documents that must always be present when driving

Best places to find cars online that I used to help me in my search:
– (they also show you the median price of the car)

– facebook.com/marketplace

I also checked on the specific car brand sites as well as most have a “used car” section on their websites, but most dealerships use StandVirtual.

“AAA” / “AA” equivalent in Portugal:

*I have no affiliation with any insurance companies, or any names that may be mentioned in this video.

  1. Wonderful, looks like a very nice ride. I may have missed….Petrol or diesel? I've also noticed some posting about the fuel costs in Portugal!!! Whew!!!! Good luck and hopefully spring brings more properties on the market. Thanks again.

  2. thanks for great video. we are just trying to decide whether to buy in portugal or UK and matriculate…would be interested to know how much you spent as a comparison ??if you didn't mind telling us??♡ love watching your journey…so helpful and interesting. thankyou x

  3. Hi Chris,
4×4 Dusters are quite capables, but they are rare, so I reckon urs is a 4×2.
Did you get it from the Dacia dealership or a multibrand dealership? By that I mean, do you get a nationwide warranty coverage?

You have the insurances costs, which may help, but didn't you have to prove with a document from ur S. A. insurance that you haven't crashed a car within last 5years?

I dunno how it works in S.A. but in the EU (or most of the EU), there's a Bonus/Malus that applies to insurances. The less accidents you had, the cheaper de insurance gets.
50% being the max bonus available, I believe it's 5 years without any incident.

  4. Morning Christine. Thanks for the car info. Will you be doing anything on Pet relocation? Ill be doing the same journey as you & would love some feedback. Kind regards

  5. Hello, for farm life Duster is the best choice but your timing isn't, fuel prices never been so high due to war Ru-Ukr and your upload time at 6am GMT isn't either. There are no optimal time to change your life but probably this is the worst.
