Portugal’s new digital nomad visa is very exciting! We want to highlight a similar program that is seriously lacking on marketing but we believe many digital nomads or remote workers will find very exciting.
Chile is an incredibly safe country (relative to the region – LESS crime than Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico, etc – you can actually text while walking). Very developed country even by tier 1 Countries with AMAZING mountains and beaches.
People are very friendly and English is so widely spoken that you can even apply with your documents in English for their temporary residency.
They also have some great tax benefits for new residents.
In summary, even though the Chilean temporary residency is not labeled as a ” digital nomad” visa, it does check ✅ all the boxes a lot of long term digital nomad visas are looking for.
You can apply online and by yourself!

Good information
How is the health care in the country?
can i actually get the passport after moving there?
My issue with Chile for remote work and digital nomads is how far it is in terms of geography 🤣
Honestly, I moved from Colombia to Chile and it's just so much better in terms of safety. I wish I had come sooner but the one downside that it's not mentioned in the video is that there just isn't many western expats in the country so it's very much a hidden gem still so that can be good or bad depending on your perspective.
I find that Chile is a more developed Argentina but there are A LOT LESS tourists and digital nomads
