Costa da Caparica
The Costa da Caparica, located on the southern side of the Tejo River, is essentially a long line of sandy, pleasant beaches that serve to all types of sunbathers.

Caparica itself is a welcoming though basic town with all the usual tourist trappings and amenities. Originally a fishing community, where women still sell fresh fish on the side of the road, it now primarily serves as the closest summer resort for Lisboans looking to get away from the city during the summer months, with a fair selection of fish restaurants and bars. Colorful boats still live and work on the beach here, however it now now has a number of bars that play music late into the night, and a 16th century Convento dos Capuchos high on the cliffs behind it.
