Hi Everyone!
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. We were lucky enough to have met some amazing people here and were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with new found friends.
I wanted to create an updated video breaking down our cost of living for my family of 5 in Caldas da Rainha which is located in the Silver Coast of Portugal.
In my previous cost of living video, I showed our first month of expenses while we explored our new country and ate as much as our bellies could hold! Now we are living a more “normal” life with our everyday routine and thankfully, have settled down in a more permanent location so I wanted to create an updated video of our current expenses.
The expenses that I will go over are- rent, utilities, school tuition, car expenses, activities and of course food such as groceries and restaurants. I believe the longer I live in Portugal, the easier it will be to reduce our expenses down. For instance, I mainly shop at Continente and Leclerc. I am still familiarizing myself to their store loyalty card which periodically offers discounts and as I continue to shop, I can get a better understanding of when the stores run their promotions as well as when it would be the best time to buy certain items.
If you are planning on moving to Portugal with a family on a certain budget, I hope this video will help you. There are many ways to reduce your expenses such as sending your children to public school which will greatly reduce your expense. Also, if your family does well with apartments, there are many apartments in Caldas and or the surrounding areas that are more affordable. The further you live from Caldas, the more affordable housing becomes.
