Love your videos and decor. I have a bread question. Is whole-grain rye bread available? How about sourdough bread which is a natural yeast process? Thank you🍞
Great comparisons Ana. Comparisons are always a fun topic. A video comparing PT and USA customs could easily have been three times longer! 😊
While I reside in USA, my heritage/passport is Italian so I find differences between PT and USA customs to be almost identical between Italy and USA. And that’s a good thing as I’m considering relocating to PT from USA.
My observations and one question.
1) BREAD. Unless you go to a local/family-owned bakery in the US (most folks don’t), there is little/no difference buying bread in a supermarket anywhere in USA. Sadly bread is mostly the same with little variety. 😕 2) DRYERS. Personally, I prefer clothes that are dried outside. Consider, however, nearly everyone in the US has a dryer—this is part due to homes which have space for these appliances and many jurisdictions/home-associations do not allow clothes to be dried outside. 😢 3) PATIENCE. While you correctly point out most USA citizens want an answer right away and PT citizens (as well as Italians) are not always that way, I was very pleased with Catía on your staff. She has been VERY responsive to all my questions and is wonderful to work with. ❤️ 4) GROCERIES. 100-percent agree fruits in PT are much more flavorful in compared to US. Particularly, as your Graciosa ❤️ pointed out to me, if the fruit is grown in PT and imported from a far away place like (say) blueberries from Argentina. Nearly all the fruit we buy in the US is imported from elsewhere—even fruit grown locally in California doesn’t taste good like it does in PT. 5) AUTOS. For better or worse, US cities are built with an auto being a necessity—not a choice. Hence, commuting for more than an hour is not uncommon in large US urban areas. 🚙 6) RESPECT FOR ELDERS. In this regard PT and IT are identical. In the US, this concept does not exist IMHO—now that I’m becoming an elder myself. 😅
7) QUESTION. You mentioned the personality of folks in Lisbon are similar to those in other large cities. Unfortunately I did experience this myself. 👎🏻 I’d like to know if you believe people in other larger PT communities (like Porto, Coimbra or Braga) are similar to folks in Lisbon or are they more like folks in smaller PT communities?
Obrigado. 🇵🇹
