Did We Hit Our Christmas GOAL? – Hemp Plastering – Renovation Timelapse

A few weeks ago we set ourselves a challenge. Could we complete the first fix electrics and first coat of hemp lime plaster in every room on the ground floor of our Portuguese farmhouse?

Let’s cue the timelapse and some inspirational music and find out.

  1. Hi Guy And Kylie – many thanks for a fantastic year’s entertainment- have really enjoyed every episode- hope you have a wonderful Christmas and an even better 2023. – Peter – Sapphire Beach NSW Australia

  2. What a great end to a year. Project goals are a wonderful tool to keep you on schedule but not the end of the journey. The walls and the teamwork seem to work out well, you guys are still laughing and talking to each other. I hope you had a Merry Christmas, looking forward to a Happy New Year and can’t wait to see what tasks/project make the list for 2023. Thank you so much for sharing!

  3. Well done! It looks amazing, and must be such a boost to have accomplished all this. Lots of hard work in that. Also, that shot of the house with the citrus trees on either side is absolutely perfect. Such a pretty scene.

  4. Nice wrap and summary. Like the contrast between the music and the pace of work. Thanks for the update on the change in the material selection, incremental price increase, technique preparation and time saving. Downstairs is looking drier, warmer and brighter. Any before/after measurements for room humidity, temperature, brightness? This with just 1 layer of plastering, with large holes and cracks filled.
Amazing transformation already. Go rest & celebrate.

  5. You can honestly say you have touched every square inch of your home. Great team work. I can't wait to see when it all completely finished. Happy Hoildays. Take a needed break you guys deserve it.

  6. Congratulations guys! Happy Christmas and have an awesome New Year! Looking forward to seeing your home improvements on your journey! Take super care, Laura 🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️

  7. Congratulations. I know hard it can be, but once the mind is set it goes faster. We watch content and wonder why people "get nothing done" but there so much more to life. That's why we all need encouragement, goals and accountability. Putting it up on YouTube helps.

  8. I think a well deserved rest for Christmas and New Year is needed for you both, hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and hope to catch your new stuff soon, toodles

  9. Watching you work, while taking a break from my "Christmas work." While yours is very physical, mine is reading barely legible type from 70 yr old recipe cards that were my mother-in-laws. We continue to use her wonderful recipes for Christmas cookies (and other things) so my extra gift to all of us is to create new cards we can actually read easily. I am using a previous Christmas gift (I love my Mac Book) to layout and type 4 at a time so they can be printed on card stock and I will have them laminated to avoid the horrendous staining that happened to the originals. My plan is to have an image of the original printed on the back of the "reprint" as a historical record. Dear Bea was an amazing cook and, perhaps reincarnation of, a pastry chef. This is the time of year we miss both our mothers most and do something to include the joy they added to our lives.
We wish you both a joyful and restful Christmas. May all your memories of this year be of pride in your accomplishments and your efforts in the future be as beneficial as ever.

  10. I really like the concept of the hemp/lime insulation but do you plan on plastering the walls smoothly with just lime?
Also, why did you choose to make the light switches stick out like a feature in the wall? White switches in white plaster are less intrusive, but it seems you chose to give the switches a more prominent appearance. Just curious.
