South America is a broad continent with a population of over 400 million people in 12 countries, and it has the most awe-inspiring landscapes you’ll ever see.
While Southeast Asia is usually the go-to spot for entrepreneurs and digital nomads, South America also has plenty to offer. It still boasts cheap living, but with much more of an adventurous spirit. The people are incredibly funny, warm, and helpful, and it’s actually a very safe place to live.
In recent years, a rising number of remote workers are basing themselves in South America, and the continent is fast becoming a new hub for digital nomads everywhere. If

GREAT information, straight up upright real experiences, valuable information!
Under Covid Chile allowed citizens to withdraw 40% of their pensions to live. More than you would think went out and bought cars with the money. I've never seen so many cars in rural Chile than at the Easter week this year. Doesn't seem to be good for the future of the country. Then again, electrification of the world is extremely bullish on heavy copper Chile. Either way a cool spot for the non flinging and blinging type. Chileans are down to Earth and practical people.
You should make a video about why people should not immigrate to Canada. I know your audience are mostly westerners leaving these countries but with your reach; you would still be preparing many because Canada needs immigration like no other. They use many creative laws to milk people and it’s at least a moderate socialist country. Do you know that the government of Canada regularly silences people to keep their reputation so that people continue to immigrate there? Freezing bank accounts and taking away their passports etc? People will receive a judgement from the court and they are told that they are not to talk to the press or tell anyone about the judgement they received? They’re not allowed to talk about it. The list goes on.. and the list is really really long.. you could do a whole episode about why people shouldn’t immigrate to Canada.. if you want the list I could write you an email ?
Your channel is awesome btw very useful and resourceful 👍🏾🙏🏽
The best country in the World is one where you can get a high paying 9 to 5 job? Like for instance ??????
I have (born) lived in USA, The Netherlands, Hungary, Thailand, Cambodia and the last 10 years here in the Dominican Republic WITH ZERO PROBLEMS. A little street smarts and a whole lot of common sense will take you far in life.
I was robed in the center of Paris, France twice. Once ,2 black guys with knives and once a middle eastern type with a gun. And the health care system in France was good 20 years ago. Now it is worst than lousy. Even during elections the candidates mentioned that the health care system needs a huge infusion of money. But somethings you cannot fix with money. Education of doctors is lousy in France.
As an American, in most places if you get in a fight, you are the one going to jail. I have heard this a thousand times from expats, and almost got in a fight in Medellin with a super drunk guy that thought I was looking at his girlfriend. The problem with this, is the prison system in South America and Mexico is an absolute nightmare for an American, in some places people pay a lot just for food and a place to sleep. The prisoners run the prisons.
You can be extorted with this knowledge pretty easily as well, which often happens in Belize oddly enough. Neighbors complaining and creating huge problems, people flat out threatening violence during construction, lots of scams in new construction, I have heard so many horror stories from Belize I wrote it off.
I think Mr. Henderson did the right thing in Bogota, being near the embassies in such a nice area, but you have to remember you can have a nightmare situation on your hands pretty easily. I have seen idiots get drunk down there and just scream and yell and start fights like they are partying in some goofy college bar in the States, and you must certainly are not.
Don't come to chili. Here now and it's more expensive than even the US for many things
Come to Mexico, for 12k you can buy a passport , and anything else you want.
Andrew is down with Sharia.
All countries sell passports, It's just a question of how much!
Mr. H, you just need to ignore these clowns… But thank you for expressing a lot of people's frustrations so eloquently.
México isn’t free, neither is it low tax.
Hello im from Colombia, my country is really diverse, there are parts where the ritch live that are more and beautiful than american suburbs (for a cheapper price), there is also really dangerous places, It really depends where you go
I've been in Chile for six years. I can't say it's worked out well. I was given the impression that it was business friendly and an open market but it is almost anything but. There is clear oligarchism leading to lack of consumer choices, high prices and getting a business up an running is NOT easy. Bank accounts, registration, etc took forever. There is more government regulation than back in South Africa where I'm from, imo, and is heading more socialist policy-wise with the new constitution and government. The locals are almost as lazy as those back home. I've gone back to wage slavery and will be somewhat isolated from the impending strife as our clientele is all based in the developed world.
I have to wonder what the people in Ukraine would think about people who have left the US in order to avoid taxes. It is US taxes that is funding their defense. Enjoy your espresso with your “eight and nine figure income” friends. Maybe you can canoodle with some Russian oligarchs.
If you’re running away not to pay taxes it means you have high figures in income, so you wouldn’t live in those counties as an ordinary citizen. Those countries aren’t good if you don’t have money but if you do have money you can live very well in Brazil for instance, it would feel like a paradise. No need to worry about doctors, there are very good doctors there .
This video illustrates well how two people with different points of view (in this case, Andrew and his critic) can have different AND valid/reasonable opinions at the same time. I wish disagreements respectful and insightful like this were the rule not the exception.
Fair rebuttal. Loads of information. Cheers.
I'm liking Georgia more and more, their visa programs are among the easiest in the world.
And if you want to bring your Colombian girlfriend, guess what Colombia is also on the no visa required list there.
There's no taxes on foreign income as well, I mean it's almost perfect. The only issue I see is, it shares a border with Russia. And as we've seen happening right now, Russia is not shy about trying to re-conquer former soviet countries in the name of liberation.
It's a common misunderstanding in regards to healthcare in Latin America. Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica have some of the best healthcare systems on that continent.
They're on par if not better than most European or American counterparts, and they're vastly cheaper too.
I have lived in just about every country from Mexico all the way down…With exceptions of Honduras and Venezuela…Suriname and French Guiana…Paraguay…One must take the roads less traveled to see what lays around the corner…I´m a cancer survivor…Every two weeks I need to get injections…Not a problem and less hassle then America in every Country I have lived in Mexico, Central America and South…Had my appendix removed in San Jose , Costa Rica…Top notch hospital and Doctors…Root Canals and dental work in La Antigua Guatemala…Father and son team…outstanding and professional…Cheap compared to U.S. Been in Portugal for the past 5 years…in terms of medical no problems and top notch service…much easier for me than stateside…If you are not secure in your person…I don´t care where you move…There will be pros and cons anywhere on this planet…You have to do the work…One must connect with local folks on the ground…Moving to another country is not for everyone…Expectations versus reality are entirely two different things…The world has become nomadic for many reasons…As Mr. Henderson says go where you are treated best…That does not always happen…Especially in the times we are living in…no matter the country…My strategy is simple…Not a fan of large populations…Cities or countries…Not a fan of high crime…Not a fan of high living expenses…I am a fan of places that are diversified in topography…I am of fan of not needing a car…I am of fan of keeping more money in my pocket across the board…For me at the moment Portugal ticks those boxes…Not perfect, but works for me…At the end of the day…You are in control of your happiness, health and well being period!
My cousin moved back to our hometown in Mexico 🇲🇽 he works remotely for a company in Texas, he lives like a king, DON'T LISTEN TO THE HATERS!
So the guy wants to stop people from being able to go where they want 😂. good work andrew don’t let these haters get away with this disinformation!
The irony of people who enrich themselves at the cost of their communities constantly seeking to move in search of other “ideal” communities. Being that wealthy and removed from participating in the communities that enabled you to build that wealth is one of the biggest reasons the places you run from go to shit. If you spent a fraction of the time and money you do running around actually investing in whichever community you choose to live in then you wouldn’t need to lead such self absorbed lives. You’re all in the top percentiles of wealth and complaining about the world going to shit and where to run to when you’re the ones either destroying it or best placed to help do something about it.
If you move to South America there’s something wrong with you
And I’m from Chile
Gives me a headache listening to him…
Who the hell is this wolf loser?
Healthcare is a prime concern the older you get or if you have kids, for the young and single not so much maybe. Here in Australia if you rely on the public system for elective surgery, there can be long waits. If you have private insurance it can be quick. I can see my doctor generally the next day, but it can longer in other areas. If you are in an a bad accident the emergency care in public hospitals is world class.
If I were to live elsewhere I would be looking at private medical insurance, and if I could not afford it I would give it a miss.
Much about safety depends on location, which part of the country, which city and how do you fit in, not being a antenna sending the wrong messages around. Violence is everywhere, i lived most in the Netherlands and the shop across the street was robbed, my neighbor was robbed as well. I live 17 years in Brazil and had no issues but things happen here as well. If you have money you can buy good private healthcare in most country's in Latin America, if you depend on state healthcare, stay in Europa. But most important: Some people are born in a country where they don't fit and if you discover one day, when you step in a country where you feel totally relaxed and in peace, you found the place your soul belongs! (morphogenetic field).
Why would anyone want to leave the US?
It's the best country in the world!
The US have a strong currency, low taxation, high salaries compared to the rest of the world, the US is very safe with low crime, has amazing nature and beaches, cheap products, the TOP companies are from the US, innovation thrives, education is TOP in the world, it's the land of freedom!!!!
Why would you migrate to stagnant leftist and authoritarian Europe?
If I had the opportunity I would be living in the US but I don't want to be illegal.
Except Brazil, where you have high taxation and high crime
This Staub dude is clearly commie-brainwashed and likes the idea of "government" taking care of him. That's a personal Constitution issue that I find unacceptable to my American muscles. Besides, we don't have our system running the way it was intended and should. Money and taxes aren't and won't be an issue large enough to move. It ain't that deep to me. But I enjoy hearing these perspectives. I'm still not sold on his claims about healthcare being better. Not sure what country or income bracket he's in.
Andrew, how does FATCA fit into this? It seems that the evil of the IRS now follows us everywhere.
You have been all over South America and got away with it, but you did not live there and stay in one spot for long enough for the criminals to get a handle on you. This guy's has traveled in SA, no lived there.
Of you are wealthy, Healthcare in Latin America is excellent because you will go private and it will be better than Europe. Same with education. Private education is excellent. Public Healthcare and education is terrible, forget it. As I mentioned below, the only issue is security
I lived in South America for 14 years. Loved it! But I was young and poor. Had a great time! If you are not street wise and you are wealthy, then don't even think about South America. They have all kinds of ways to find out about your money and THE CRIMINALS will do anything ANYTHING to get to that money including shooting you kids in front you, squashing your testicles or removing a beast, smashing teeth with a chisel etc. Most people are wonderful, but if you get attention from the wrong people down there you are screwed. And indeed, you can improve security with money but you can not escape it. I know several local people who are successful that were taken hostage and others that were killed. It's just a matter of time, it can not be avoided.
how about doing a viedo on parguay
The ideal country would have:
– No animal exploitation (including hunting, fishing, breeding, slaughter, etc.).
– No taxes: no property tax, no crypto tax, no income tax, no trading tax.
– No islam or some like third-rate creed.
– No (physically and otherwise) ugly people.
– No oversexed male exotics hellbent on pestering and chasing beautiful White Women to physical and moral spoliation.
– Affordable housing.
– Affordable food and utilities.
– Modern minimalist architecture (such as the best of California, Florida, the best of Spain, Mexico – and this is shocking – here and there in Iran (it sounds laughable, but shocking as it is, Iran is up there with the best in the world in this regard).
– Beaches, beautiful clear water.
– Beautiful land- & seascapes.
– Quality road infrastructure, fit, among other things, for multi-week bicycle tours. Mountains are fine, but not too steep roads. And not too much wind, either.
– Not too many insects.
– Not too many mice and rats.
– No crime of any sort.
– Not too far from the First World (especially, Europe); reachable within a couple of hours by a yacht.
I'm yet to find a place like this. I'd move in as heartbeat, if there was one.
A childhood friend of My ex had immigrated to South America (Paraguay, if I recall) with the family; bought a fazenda, set up and animal shelter, and lived largely happily until… he was found by his wife with the head chopped off by some local scoundrel (or a gang) with a machete. He knew to have a revolver handy and didn't speak too highly of the locals; apparently, they're not particularly keen on White people.
For me, it is all a question of priorities. I have learned that income, standard of living and quality of life are not the same thing. I have lived in the United States, where the capitalist mentality allowed me to have the highest income, but the worst life. I also lived in Europe, where I made less money but had a much, MUCH higher standard of living, with better public services, health services, culture and family time. I now live in Mexico where I enjoy the best quality of life. In my youth, I gave priority to income. In my middle age I gave priority to standard of living and in my old age quality of life is my main goal. In the globalized world, you can make money anywhere, so I see no advantage to living in the US. My advice: Go where you have the best standard of living or the best quality of life, depending on your priorities. Mexico and South America are worth a look.
