Welcome Extra Historians to Lies, where we talk about the mistakes we made and the details we couldn’t quite squeeze into our Empire of Brazil series. With questions like, What’s up with that pocket chicken? What happened during that insane bottle war? And what do the colors on Brazil’s flag represent?

No mention to map mistakes? The last map showing Portugal was quite wrong…
Hold on, you mean to tell me you didn’t get the flag or the maps wrong?!
Who are you and where is the real Extra History team?
So I looked up those portraits of John VI. He almost looks like a cartoon. Y'all's version of him looks more realistic, and that literally is a cartoon
At that time, in Brazil, "Brazil" was spelled with a Z.
I love me some lies.
That's good to know. Thank you. I had more observations, but I'm tired. Maybe later.
Can you guys make an episode on the yugoslavian resistance?
Yay! Beer!
Samba is awesome but what does Carnival have to do with Ibn Batuta?
I may be wrong but I remember learning in school that Dom Pedro II was anemic. Is there a particular reason why that wasn't mentioned?
The full name of "Rio de Janeiro" is "São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro"
Don’t think I didn’t notice that necron sticker. Nice pick edit: Im dumb and didn’t even notice the entire wall of warhammer stuff behind him lol
do one on King John II of Portugal
So… You went to brazil
As a brazilian I say thank you for these videos. Imagine what centuries of monarchy would make of funny and interesting histories….
Tullips were the nft of the past
I love your books Mr Rath.
I am beyond excited for the Ethiopian series!
The Battle of Alcácer Quibir could easily be a episode, The Battle of the Three Kings. The King of Portugal and two rival Sultans of Morocco are all killed, not to mention the Catholic English mercenary Thomas Stukley with his spare invasion force for Ireland coming along…and getting killed as well, along with much of Portugal's nobility.
I wonder if the pocket chicken thing was possibly due to him being diabetic? ( just a theory, I don't know if he was or not) because I'm am hypoglycemic and sometimes have to carry snacks with me.
