English-language federal leaders' debate – September 9, 2021

Federal party leaders go head-to-head in the official English-language debate organized by the Leaders’ Debates Commission. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, and Green Party Leader Annamie Paul face off at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec. People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier was not invited as the Commission said he did not meet the criteria to take part.

The two-hour debate covers five themes: affordability; climate; COVID-19 recovery; leadership and accountability; and reconciliation.

Angus Reid Institute president Shachi Kurl acts as moderator, with the participation of journalists Mercedes Stephenson (Global News), Rosemary Barton (CBC News), Evan Solomon (CTV News), and Melissa Ridgen (APTN News).
