EU energy crisis: Spain's economy minister hopes for 'downward trend' in electricity prices soon

Amid supermarket food rationing, a truck drivers’ strike over petrol prices and rising inflation in #Spain, the country’s economy minister tells FRANCE 24 that it’s “essential” for Madrid to be allowed to take measures to bring electricity prices down. “We’re working with the Commission to have an authorisation to decouple our energy market and thus stop this price increase […] It doesn’t make sense that Spanish and Portuguese citizens do not benefit from the fact that we have for instance at least 50 percent of our generation from renewables. This is very cheap and clean energy and our citizens should benefit from these low prices,” Nadia Calviño explains.

  1. UK Kwasi Kwarteng allowed this UK is Sold out to global businesses energy companies. Feb 24 (Reuters) – Tailwind, a private oil producer backed by commodity trader Mercuria, has agreed to buy BP's stake in the Shearwater oilfield in the British North Sea, it said on Monday . 2. Nato started this war this was all planned again fighting America’s endless wars and now we are paying for it it’s disgusting what they are doing to us

  3. You should ask energy supply from Biden and Boris, they make trouble the must responsible for it
    😷😷😷
Only need one Zelensky to make chaos europe, only clown can make funny all europe

  4. Reminds me how they took away subsidies from Spanish solarfarmers to benefit gas lobbyists… Spain should have an optimal situation for both Solar and windpower with huge deserts and windy wastes, from previous woolindustry projects and cutting down all trees in past centuries..

  5. She ( the minister) is squirming in her chair ! She can’t give an honest answer typical political responses! I live in western Canada… we have a drama teacher in power 😢
Lots of trouble coming for us all !
    Cheers everyone!

  6. I don't want to believe Spanish citizens are believing this NONSENSE…

Rationing is currently going on…you would think it's Spanish citizens under sanctions…

And to think Spain actually has LNG regasification terminals…

  7. Hold on, the Spanish minister started saying that the war in Ukraine doesn’t have an impact on Spain (very low impact) then when it comes to inflation she changes the argument back to energy prices…..which is rising-as a direct consequence of the war in Ukraine. She’s either too smart for me or she believes her own BS.

  8. Not the prices are increasing!
The money as we know them are decreasing in value for US to get the value of dolar to get to its proper value after living on money printing for 80 years. Now the value of USD is less then 10 % of its real value

  9. Spain‘s inflation is entirely and only the result of Spain‘s monetary policies, has nothing to do you energy prices (which the minister stated early on, Spain is not exposed to because of Russian invasion of Ukraine) or worker strikes.
