Finally Rebuilding the “WELL” in Rural Algarve/Portugal Garden #62

@realalgarveliving This is so exciting repairing the Well and finally seeing the rings installed. The Well is a free source of water, which as we all know, vital if you plan on growing food. I may never be completely off grid but being self sufficient (as much as possible) is good for the soul. I’ve had many people ask me ‘why bother’, ‘waste of my time and energy’, surely you can just get a bore hole. Granted, bore holes are invisible and probably the best option. However, bore holes are ‘well’ 😉 out of my price range and (equally important), the Camera are restricting them so I would probably have to beg. The satisfaction of rebuilding and bringing this back to life is part of my journey and a reward I can be proud of. Sweat and hard work will be rewarded. I might not do things in the order or way some might agree with, but that’s the beauty of calling your own shots and learning as you roll along on this journey. Positive, healthy and happy, that’s ALL that matters. Thank you for watching, leaving lovely comments and supporting my channel.

  1. I hate people who make 'you should have done' comments, ……….but I've found if you dump a load of medium sized gravel or stones in the well before you try to set the first ring, it makes leveling up so much easier, …….and the casing is better grounded against subsidence. Looks great !

  2. I have recently started watching videos of your adopted country. Most all I see have open wells at or near ground level on most. Why ? Seams like it would be dangerous to nan and animals. Also doesn't light promote alge growth? Not criticism just confused as to why,

  3. Well looks great!!. After a bit of advice. We have a place in the hills of East Algarve. We are looking for some, about 60m2 of out side tiles any suggestions??.
Great watching the the rebuild of the village house. Excalty what I enjoy we are just finishing one May well do another.

  4. All good for your efforts on this! The funny thing is, lots of Britts mounting projects in Portugal, no videos of Portuguese people doing any of these projects in their own country coming to my Youtube.

  5. That’s coming along great.
I watch another channel. Project Portugal.
He’s redoing a pool table just like yours.
You might get some tips. He’s doing a great job. I think he’s in central Portugal.
    From the UK too.

  6. Hurray, really enjoyed seeing the well finally rebuilt, best episode for a long time. Also you have obviously shown James how to use the camera as now following him too – keep 'em coming!

  7. You can tell by the way the crane driver was handling those rocks and the fill-in that he's done this sort of work before. 😉 What a relief the job has been accomplished. Congratulations. A fantastic job.

  8. This was a mammoth job from start to finish , and the hardest one you did it . Very enjoyable to watch indeed .No kidding when you say you do something …you do it . 9. a wonderfully productive day – lots done and the well is filling quite fast: surprisingly so, in fact – which is a good sign. Keep on trucking – it's all good! 👍👍👍👍

  13. Just having a morning coffee break over my side of the world (New Zealand) have watched your tremendous work in putting in the new well. Right from the start of renovating this well the journey has been amazing. Thank you Andrew for sharing and no more going down the well on that ladder, so scary!
