First step towards self-sustainability on our Portuguese homestead in North Portugal.

We bought a Portuguese homestead, and we’re clearing the land we just bought. Today, we’re taking our first step towards self-sustainability. We’re building a temporary compost box/planter box from the wood we’re chopping on the land. Our off-grid Portugal project is taking shape as we’re clearing the water tank. Sindy is becoming the strongest woman in the universe. This is a slice of our life in North Portugal.

  1. Well done! You too are really working hard. By the look of your grassy meadow, you’ve got there a fertile soil, which doesn’t need hard work of raised beds. Just hire a farmer with light plow and pick up all grass out and after raking, you can seed/plant directly whatever you need.
    Good luck.
