  1. I don't know FL laws but are there any controls on increasing lot rents. What is to prevent the park owner from raising the rent from $550/month to $1,000/month.

  2. My wife and I had talked about moving south. We hate the winters here in Michigan. I was a little surprised about the lot rent but it’s been a while since I lived in a mobile home. We would more than likely want a little bigger and newer home than this model. I’ll keep watching to see if there’s anything we Amy like.

  3. If you are dealing with an older mobile pre-1980 and if they have a fire then they tend to burn up quickly. And I do mean quick. Was visiting a mobile home park and an owner had a kitchen fire and within 5 minutes the mobile home was gone.

  4. The lot rent in san Diego is between $1200 to 1500 for a 60 foot single wide…and home prices are lots more……. I'm in an older 1960s park and now pay $900 a month winters…

  5. If your going into any 55+ please really look thru the bylaws for the community. We are in a condo for 4 years now. Our daughter in law just arrived from Europe. We found out that she can only stay with us for 90 Days!!!! Ridiculous rules. Who knew there would be a rule like this??? We own our unit outright and pay our monthly fees on time. Just be aware!!!!

  6. It's cheap until you realize what the lot rent is and what the association fees are. $25,000 for a 2-br mobile home sounds good until you see the by laws of the community it is sitting in. Some put in stipulations that the siding must be replaced every 5 years. Homes need to be remodeled every 10 years. Friend moved into a mh community on a special, $299 monthly lot rent for life deal – but it keeps increasing each year because of hidden fees or dues. All I am saying is ask lots of questions and research everything before you sign any documents.
