Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we open our gates for the Journées du Patrimoine! We coordinated with local French clubs to host a classic car show and an artistic dance performance during this celebration of European Heritage. Ian advances on unearthing the cobblestone around the horse stables and we discover the original garden boundary lines!

Our beau chateau (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!

As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!

You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

  1. I googled French Renaissance Gardens and came across your pattern in Chateau Villandry.
It is very likely that the large outer square was lined with boxwood hedging. You could have had grass pathways leading to the fountain and the edged strips were filled with gravel or the other way round.
Gravel or grass around the fountain. All very geometrical and structured.
I’ll look up your contact information and send you the pictures I found.
You’ll see how your garden all makes sense. It looks exactly like one of the beds in Villandry.

  2. Great idea to hold a Concours de Elegance. The '66 Fastback Mustang is truly legendary. I've had my dream car in the garage for 20 years. A 1960 white Chrysler 300 F. A real Survivor. Only 3 approved in Germany. I am very curious how you will design the garden. I am very curious how you will design the garden. I'm so curious. If you do an event with Classic Cars again. Let us know in good time. Then I bring my Chrsysler with a trailer. Greetings

  3. Y’all are becoming one of my favorite château channels! I love the camera work, drone shots and the way y’all seem to pick the best time and place to be outside to do your out-tro. I also have to mention your beautiful GSD, just so happens to be my favorite breed of dog! Keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!! BTW – I watch y’all from West Virginia, USA 🇺🇸

  4. Absolutely lovely to see ll you both havedonend the plns for mroe to come. Such knowledge you both carrythat wil help you along the way.
The car show was so fantastic. My brother andi sister in law who have a car they take to car shows and they are very much into the older cars as is my husband. I go for the fun of it, and do like viewing them, of course too!

Cannot beleive what a lovely turnout you both had so many more than ever expected! but some people cannot follow directions and to wander off on someone elses properly is illegal as well as shocking. That is not good to wander off into your woods and after the program they could stay on and it would not be safe really.

Guess good fencing around your whole home may be a good idea, perhaps? Keeping Boars out and peopel who just want to be over adventureous.

  5. I wonder if maybe you need to dig those cobblestones out, level and prep the ground underneath, and re-lay them. A lot of work, but the results will be a beautiful restoration and a space you will use and enjoy so much more. Also easier to maintain.

  6. Lovely vlog. Nettles do not grow where I am from but I understand butterflies and moths love them. Also, where I am from, we call those worms in your flower beds, grubs. I hear fish like to eat them so, if you like fishing…

  7. Wife and I just finished binge watching your videos. What a refreshing change from the other Chateau vlogs. You're a beautiful, hardworking couple who deserve all the success that is in your future. Only question is why do I keep hearing a voice in my head? "Winter is coming. Winter is coming."

  8. You two are such a cute couple. I ❤ what you are doing. Please. Wear a Proper Mask. 😮. Cannot wait to see more. And please do not throw things away without research. They have probably been around for at least 100 yrs. What is a few more? I can make a guess about the frame with fabric that fell apart. Perhaps a portable confessional. You could put it on a table of some sort, and it could screen the penitent from the confessor.

  9. WOW! The quality of your videography is simply amazing! This chateau will be in good hands in the future. You are both living a "Fairytale" life!
    💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

  10. Superb superb videography! My dear Daddy loved viewing Vintage autos at Equine fests; especially Austin Healeys! Now I would have been thrilled to enjoy your beloved and beautiful Chateau! Visions really do come true💐

  11. I love this channel and your beautiful Chateau! What a living dream!
Also, love classic cars as well. My dad had a 1929 Model A and my sister had a classic Mustang when she graduated high school in 1977. I hope to have one some day. My dad also had a Mustang Fastback only one day years ago and sold it the same day. I can tell you he regretted it for many years.

  12. So pleased you got a good turnout at the open day. Why do people have to push the boundaries and go over fences and things that are blocked off???? Great job on the cobble stones and the garden boundaries

  13. Try straight white cleaning vinegar on the cobblestone to stop anything growing. It is far less harmful than all the other things available. Poor it into the cracks you don't want the grass to grow and be aware of where the flow of water drains to as it will make other plants wither too. Good luck.

  14. Boars will win they will dig out the fence. Put an electric line fence down at the bottom where their snouts go and it will help. I did that with 2 strands of wire on the edge of a lake they swim like dogs. If you want your land dug up rent someone’s pigs and enclose them for a couple of weeks.

  15. Those straight borders will be beautiful planted with flowering perennials. Hope you find more concrete borders. Maybe there are photos somewhere that would show where they are.

  16. This makes me wish I was there to visit the car show at your beautiful château! I love how in Europe people bring their dogs everywhere! Love all you’re doing, so thank you for showing us what you’re doing and planning!

  17. Congratulations on a very successful event. Loved the classic car show! I didn't see enough of the dance/gymnastics performance to form an opinion. The garden is looking better all the time. I would be afraid to be out on the Chateau grounds anywhere knowing those wild boar are around. I've heard they can get pretty nasty. Please be careful and stay safe. Another great video and awesome drone footage. Thank you for sharing. ox

  18. Nettle tea is also really good for human consumption! It is very nutrient dense, and good with a bit of honey. It is rich in iron, and can help with allergies, insulin regulation, and hormone health. Good to know it can help the earth as a natural fertilizer as well!
