This week we got a lot of gardening done, chopped wood for the log burner to keep us cosy and started building our new chicken enclosure.

Beijinos e abraços,
Carissa, Iwan, Frankie & Albi

Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

  1. What a lovely episode, cattel egrets, eagles – luckily no chickens lost, and just the lovely lush landscape – and I do love that where ever you are, Albi seems to be.

  2. Do your chicken give eggs almost every day? If so, what do you do with all of them? I would love to have chickens once we have our place up and running but this is an issue I am wondering about…….what to do when having too many eggs.

  3. So many snoopurrvisors🐈🐕 always near by. Dioggo was so in tune with Iwan's reactions during the game. That was a fabulous looking sweet potato curry. Yes, a plaid flannel shirt or jacket would be very lumberjacky when chopping wood 😊.

  4. Hi, Carissa and Iwan. That curry looked lovely. What other veg was in it? Is it easier to grow sweet potatoes Carissa? Is it like growing other spuds? Okay, probably really dumb question, but why the rubber tyres when chopping wood? I love to see Diogo finally get his lamp shade off. Your lNd is looking so vibrant and lush ilove the smell of camomile. Will you collect some of the petals from them and make a tea infusion? X

  5. Another lovely vlog. Sorry about your chicken. Hope your enclosure works well and the eagle stays away. Happy Diogo with his cone of shame gone. I just love your illustrations. Windy wet blustery day here with the threat of snow to come. We normally don't get much snow here. Being originally from Labrador I am use to snow as high as the house or more. It was great as kids but not so much for older people. Take care. Looks nice and cosy with the fire and string of lights.

  6. Hi all from my little farm in Thailand. I’m impressed by Frankie’s video and editing skills since you started, I’m sure Carissa must be helping him. Isn’t it amazing how much work there is to do on even a small farm. Congrats to all on learning to live and what’s important at your young age.

  7. Iwan and Charissa deserve so much more followers. I’m hoping they get there. 🥰 Chrissa is my favourite but Iwan is growing on me 🤨 the best bit are the animals and serenity of their farm.

  8. I’m glad you are loving it there. I’m cwtched up in bed watching after queuing in Cardiff for the train after the Welsh rugby against Australia. Say no more 👀 other than it was tipping down standing outside waiting and I wish I was there in sunnier climes 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  9. Lovelies You are on the ball with regard to the chooks they will strip the grass I think if divided to 2 or 3 areas you can rest one for a week while try graze another I had a clucky in a A frame and had dropped a bag of bbq chicken bones going to the bin with arms full and woke at 1.30 am to a scuffling noise on the back verandah and opened the back door to a Tasmanian devil who got the biggest shock it or me I don’t know it had been gnawing on the bones frightened the hen off her eggs broke one so all remaining covered in straw and rubbish , I clapped and bellowed it like Iwan watching footy ,dazed by the light and shock took of toward the forest fell in a pond the shock it got they are as black as soot with white tip on the tail and around the mouth stocky as Arnold swartzeneger and as big as a feral cat , the worry is 2 fold they can make a cows corpse disappear in a night 10 screaming and tearing seemingly fighting but it’s all bluff , securing our chickens is paramount ,if I doze off I go and lock the feathered friends up at 11 at night with my torch if not that’s when they’re a easy feed for the devils or spotted quolls that are like a ferret / weasel great vid guys ,diago lookin good 👍❤️❤️❤️🙏

  10. Sua quinta está ficando fabulosa, o gatinho branco é bem levado, sempre brincando no sua frente, as luzes de fadas ficou lindo e o Iwan igual ao meu marido, colado na tv vendo a copa do mundo. Abraços

  11. can i ask if you need to seek permissions to live in one of these country stone buildings? im thinking of buying a stone barn but also want to be able to live in it.lots of people say you can and lots of people say you can not..

  12. I have the citronella geranium too, such a lovely smell. We get so many mozzies here.. not like in the U.K. where they are quite harmless, we seem to have huge blood sucking beasts 3/4 of the year round…so thinking of trying to use the geranium somehow.. figure out a way making a balm with it.. I am missing my balm and soap making days, this might be a good push to make some ready for when they attack again!

On a veg growing note, what do you do again those nasty cabbage caterpillars? I try and get out there to pluck them off but they are enjoying my cabbages a little too much!

Love the fairy lights.. they always make everything look so snug x

  13. Good morning, Carissa and Iwan🤗
I always enjoy watching your videos. All your animals like to be where you are… it makes me smile! It’s good to see that the cone of shame is finally off Diogo. I’m a bit jealous that you can plant veggies in late November😉 We’ve had two snow falls so far…I get my snow tires on Monday, Nov. 28. Stay safe and take care❤️❤️

  14. You may have heard that goose are very good at keeping chickens safe from fox, I think they are fairly aggressive ??? Of course I don’t know all goose species but from videos I’ve seen.
