Inflation aggravation is hitting Canadians once more, with rates now reaching highs not seen in nearly four decades. In June, prices at the pumps also jumped by more than 50 per cent compared to what they were a year ago and that affects the price of most everything you see in stores and restaurants because it’s shipped in. Food across the board costs nearly nine per cent more, hitting restaurants hard. Anne Gaviola has more on the impact on consumers, and when we could see inflation reach its peak.

As severe heat smothers parts of Canada, farmers are worried about how the weather will impact crop yields. Morganne Campbell reports on the damage from the unusually dry weather, and what this means for an already strained food supply chain.

Despite new promises to tackle the climate crisis, U.S. President Joe Biden faces more calls for action from environmental advocates. Jackson Proskow explains where the U.S. is still falling short on its numerous commitments, as a gruelling heat wave grips the country.

As other historic heat waves ease in parts of Europe, many residents are surveying the destruction caused by devastating fires. Ross Lord looks at the damaging toll spurring calls for leaders to take action against climate change.

Surging food costs have Canadian shoppers digging deeper into their wallets. Jeff Semple speaks with Sylvain Charlebois, professor and senior director of Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, about what’s driving up prices, its impact on food insecurity, how you can save money, and how long food inflation is expected to last.

Despite the vastness of space, the laws of gravity still apply to the things we launch into our galaxy. Now a Canadian study is examining the risks for us Earthlings posed by falling space junk. Mike Armstrong explains why the odds of debris causing serious damage, or even death, are on the rise.

  1. Canada is an open air mental asylum. Almost the entire population is either depressed, diseased, or on prescription/illegal drugs….well, the leaders, academia, health care workers, and bankers are preying on its own population; especially the coloured people.

  2. All the talk with all the countries does nothing.
Restart an auto industry The governments have to accept as a loss.
Or "A" Complete loss to all.
    It is something
We have to have no say.
    Because the wambulance doesn't matter.
    When it's too late.

  3. The government needs to
    lusc💸💵sly invest into grants for
    Fr🥦m🫑rs for greenhouses.
For the offset of the dangerous storms.
Thay are controlled setting & If built properly what is a storm

  4. How to reduce costs at the pumps and grocery stores and banking institutions…stop paying taxes that our corrupt government takes and gives away to foreign countries…stop paying banking fees (take all your money out of the banks) stop giving your money to corrupt corporations like chain grocery stores like Walmart and loblaws who report record profits. ..support smaller local shops…force the government to tax the multi BILLIONS in profits made by oil mongers

  5. In fact, all Canadian cities are already overcrowded, congested, polluted, and crime-ridden without any control, regulation, proper management, and governance.

Many Canadians have been suffering without proper housing, healthcare, transportation, education, jobs, income, housing, and decent life in Canada for a long time.

The JT government opens its doors to unlimited foreigners and strangers from corrupt and overpopulated countries just for their political gains and profits.

Now, the total system is collapsed, and MESS in Canada.

  6. So Trudeau fixes the Russian turbines for electricity probably to get on their good side against some opinions. Now Putin is going to cut some of the power to Europe and is blaming Canada? Looks like it backfired

  7. Money printing over the last 5 years is by far the biggest driving cause. The government just keeps printing money instead and not dropping their climate change agenda.

  8. Absolute garbage, the reason for the inflation is the fact that the liberals printed hundreds of billions of Canadian dollars during the last two years. All while knowing full well how badly it would devalue everyone's existing currency.

  9. the amount of grains and food that Canada produces and I'm still paying 10$ for a loaf of bread, stop giving our f*****g food away, in years past when we had abundance and our grocery bills were much lower giving away food wasn't a big deal. Either bring our costs down or stop wheeling and dealing with the world….or does corporate greed truly own this crooked government

  10. grocery stores still charge more for things that were not effected by inflation to increase the over all factor of their store. made in store foods and products not subject to inflation were also increased by up to 3 dollars, items that did not need increase and factories that had no reason to increase costs

  11. How is what the hockey league payout find any different then residential schools? It's throwing money at the problem not fixing it. Neither is right but real change is difficult. It's all garbage. If they broke something physical money is great to fix that but theses are scarring mental issues.

  12. russia did not invade ukraine last year and this is what you said!!! this is a fight and not a war and ukraine pushed russia by spying on them in the black sea! then faught russia with president bidens money and artillery!! disease is the lie global news tell the truth in your news casting!

  13. The "peak" of inflation is nothing to be excited about, because the initiated know that deflation follows soon after. Which is just as much of a disaster for an unprepared economy.
