Elliot visits SHANGHAI CUSTOMS who have taken one of the biggest selling bikes in the world and electrified it. There are over 100 million Honda Cub bikes in existence, and now it’s possible to convert these to electric in a day!

The Honda e-Cub is a cross between a scooter and a motorbike and its pretty awesome to drive. In cities with a high density of two-wheeled transport, could EV conversion by the way forward in accelerating transition? What’s clear is that converting the Honda Cub has given this bike a new lease of life but begs the question why Honda aren’t doing this themselves.

  2. Cutting the rear fender that short sends water from the road right up into that pretty minimalist taillight, pretty seat and creates a lovely dirty stripe up your back. Removing the knee guards keeps water off the rider. Are aesthetics TRULY that important? If you are minimizing weight, drop that clunky-ass headlight.

  3. I like the Cub but this one is FUGLY as HELL couldn't they at least picked a better color scheme

This is way to expensive its much cheaper to buy a NEW ebike complete than convert your old bike

  4. When you can buy a brand spanking new CSC Monterey electric scooter – which is a clone of the Honda Cub – for 2395 USD, why would you buy a Chinese conversion kit at around 2000 USD to upgrade your 1958 Cub ? (yes, I know why, but WHY ??) Realistically, folks in Vietnam/Malaysia/Korea etc aren't going to spend 2K USD to upgrade their 1960's cubs just because it's better and greener – much as we'd like them to.

  5. One thing that is very odd is that huge amount of empty space, it's OK as a girls bike, but where do you store the shopping.. it would be an advantage to make a storage compartment/box in that empty area.. if no one's been thinking of that.. am I the only one.. possibly as well as an extra battery for longer trips.. that wont be taken on 1 single battery.. maybe even for a folding solar panel.. and a place for the wall wart.

  6. Tôi nghĩ các bạn đã nhầm lẫn điều gì đó! Đường phố,biển chỉ đường là tại Việt Nam 🇻🇳 vì sao video lại lẫn lộn giữ Việt Nam và Trung Quốc?

  7. $2800 + the price of a used cub which will bring collector prices. At that point, you could almost buy a new cub. Plus, you'll have the waste of people disassembling working bikes to start a project and never finish it. Just a bad idea. Leave them as collectors bikes that rarely get used, and buy a new electric scooter.

  8. Under UK car drivers licence it states that you can ride a 50cc moped without taking the moped test. Would this be in that category? How powerful could an e-bike be before taking a motorcycle test?

  9. Pretty cool if the motor is blown and there is no other way to put the bike on the road, but if you're destroying working cubs to do this then that's blasphemy.

  10. Yeah, take one of the most practical 3d world vehicles, strip off all the practical stuff like the leg guard and the big seat (that can hold an entire Asian family and some chickens) and make a hipster moped…
What those countries need is, cheap and more practial, or else they will keep driving the original
And whats up with the knobby front tire and the slick rear?

  11. Congrats to you SH Customs, you know HOW TO PLAY WITH PEOPLE'S STUPIDITY!! …
"If you already have your own Honda … close to $3000 … and you can build it yourself!!" Well … people – in every continent apart Antarctica – seemed to like being scammed out of their money apparently!!
I guess it costs double if you don't already have the frame … and you still build it yourself … [shaking head] "Oh my, oh my!"
For basically an electric bicycle, not convenient to carry stuff, and splashing your whole body (legs and back) on rainy days ………… again, congrats to you SH Customs, you know how to play with people's stupidity!! …
