I hold hope for you on your apartment search. Good luck. Sadly the empty seasonal vacation homes of rich people make it hard. So many vacant ruins taking away from housing supply is bad too. I believe the outside world has discovered Madeira Island and the prices will go even higher next year. It is not fair.

I hope you get the apartment. The last time I visited Madeira I rented a apartment in Pena de Agua, just west of Machico on the slope. There was a nice shepherd path going down to Machico. It is a really nice place to live and the beach is really fun. Good luck. And you are close to the airport too but the noise wasn’t a problem at all.
P/s the transcript has a lot of mistakes in it. I don’t know if you can correct it yourself?
