  1. Luise, looks like you are in a beautiful spot. I've known Trusted Housesitters for years. I've done pet & house-sitting for years now… occasionally. You are so correct, we all have a lot of experiences we don't think of. Take care x

  2. Hi Louise… I'm one of those who joined THS after seeing your videos… Best thing I've ever done! Currently doing a sit in Cotswolds for terrier and spaniel and they are sooo cute. Beautiful home/area. I choose the sits that suit me, prefer small dogs /max 2. I also only choose a sit whereby l can have approx 3 hours per day to myself (animals can be left) My first sit was in Yorkshire, cat, tortoise and 4 chickens… very easy sit for my first experience… home/pet owners have always been lovely and made me feel at ease. Once I've chosen a sit, l set up a WhatsApp chat to get to know them a little… now I'm waffling 🤣 Hope this helps others… DO IT, IT'S BRILLIANT!

  3. Thanks Louise, very informative. Just thinking about practical issues from my own personal angle – I'm guessing that you got into Portugal before the Brexit drawbridge went up…? I'm hoping that for us post Class of 2020 types, housesitting doesn't count as employment from a visa point of view. ie housesitting won't break the terms of a visa that doesn't allow someone to work. Also, I'm guessing that for your residence, you didn't need to prove you had a year's rental accomodation, as is needed for a D7 application/ renewal…? So anyone wanting to get a D7 visa will still need to have rented/own accomodation for their whole visa period, ie. housesitting might financially cover the accomodation, but it won't obviate the need to have more long term housing as well…?
Not sure if you can answer these questions, as I guess this is not your own situation (jealous!), but if you do happen to know, that would be great.

  4. you covered everything there, I got my first one because the couple were in a fix and needed someone fast, that can help you so you don't always need reviews. One more question, is there a facebook group that might help me get housesits in portugal?

  5. That was great; very informative… so, if say looking after horses do you ride, groom, muck-out etc. Would you look after small-holder: cows, sheep, goats, pigs or lamas… Just thinking geese might be scary 🙀 Really enjoying your channel which I only found tonight…… 🤟

  6. Thanks for this, I signed up for Trusted House sitters and another called Nomador. I have not used either as it seems you and the house owner pay these websites! Seems you pay for the flights, use your time for pet and home minding. So while there are some benefits for the house sitter it would want to be a Bel Air Palace if they want my services!

  7. Lovely To see you. I hope I get to meet you when I come over to Portugal next month. I have a question for you I have done house cleaning take peoples dogs for a walk and care work and getting people shopping in take them to doctors and stuff. in this line of work do you have to have police checked just wondered if it was the same for you take care thank you for sharing this very trusting video
