In the next episode i will probably clean some more tiles and also the sanding still needs to be done..

My name is Jasper and i bought a house in a Portuguese ghost town. Together with my dogs Zoey& Akira we show you the rebuild of our house en what it is like living the daily life in Central Portugal.

  1. Hi Jasper, it's getting hotter and the warm winds too. Early mornings and evenings are better to work…bats get mosquitoes. Glad you'll have some help over the weekend. Tidying up shows how much work you've done…the tiles look amazing like new.The tiles will warm up and expand filling gaps, overhang is good as your guttering will sit underneath. Do some extra tiles,as with walking on them a few might snap/ break. Jasper your getting there…there is light at the end of the tunnel. See you tomorrow, stay safe and I hope Pablo sorts out his water problem.

  2. I like your hair Jasper, because I haven’t got any, 😅. Also, if you use a pressure washer on those roof tiles, you will find that moss will grow even quicker on them, as the pressure washer will take off the smooth outer finish of the tile.

  3. Mosquitoes prefer some humans over others and can be deadly (yellow fever, Zika virus, etc.). To relieve itching, apply either oatmeal, garlic, onion, vinegar or aloe vera to the bite. Enjoy the sultry summer nights, but know that mozzies are more active at night. The new roof looks very nice with the scrubbed tiles. You're doing fine!

  4. Maybe you could make the first stick of wood to turn a quarter of circle so the lack of thickness for the first round of toils don't behave with the others …

  5. Hi Jasper, you need to double batten your first batten to get the height right, you also need to extend the battens beyond the sides(both sides), so you can cut them in half to finish the sides, then the other half of the cut can start the other side

  6. Halfway done, these tiles. Looks miles better when they are on the roof. Tricky with them because of different sizes 🙄…perhaps it’s helpful to know that it makes it easier when the battens are not too short at the sides…then you can lay the tiles on the roof, bring everything in the right position and then cut it to the correct length. Learning by doing, it will be great when finished.

  7. I know people have recommended already, but you should really consider a pressure washer, not only for the tiles, but also it will be useful in the future to clean the terrace, the walss and Vanessa. It will pay itself by time saved alone. Keep up the good work, loving this.

  8. My dad once told me keep your area clean while you’re working it tricks the brain and sends out endorphins that make you happy after the project of the day even if it’s not finished. The tiles look great remember you’re not going to be tiling this again,so make it work ,I know you can I have all the confidence in the world in you😁
