Here in Europe, Panama is known for the canal (obviously) and corruption. And where comanies (mainly shipping) registers not just because of taxes, but also to try to circumvent European laws, like minimum pay for employees. The country is also largely considered unstabile. And you NEVER hear about people going there on vaction. In other words, I doubt morally good companies or private millionaires/billionaires from Europe are investing much there.
Panama’s problems and economic development strategy are rooted in the the country’s creation, if it wasn’t for the US there would be no Panama. Because of that foreign investment has always been prioritized over the locals because the rich foreigners offered protection, guns & money.
OK, see the project through then come up with a plan for more land reclamation in a labour intensive way so that the poor get to build thier own new houses. If something decisive is not done quickly you head towards a revolution. We are going through that now in South Africa.
Wealthy foreign investors do not help a country. Not their own and certainly not the other country. This is the ugly side of globalization. Such people distort and harm economies on the long run.
I think that the city of Jeddah will compete with Dubai soon because it has all the capabilities to excel because it has the ingredients to excel in the field of economy, tourism, shopping and logistics services. It only needs some services in infrastructure, attractions, entertainment centers and some other simple things.
Thank you for the video Panama needs to keep improving but there is a strange fortitude on the Isthmus rarely seen in Latinamerica. People have low envy levels and understands the concept of private property and this might be the game changer to pull this rabbit out of the hat (ambitious project) nevertheless more inclusive development and education shall be available to lift everybody's boat even higher.

So this is the place cyberpunk 2077 is based on?
At the start I was thinking "comparing panama with the UAE 🤣🤣🤣🤣" now after watching it, I see… But the UAE is nowhere near this corrupt…
When you copying a failure you can only get failure.
Dubai (UAE) 🇦🇪 deserves even more respect! Many countries and cities are trying to replicate their success but they cannot. Good leadership is key
Wait till the US locks up Martilnelli water this year can't wait!

All of this without considering the devastating environmental impact on the see currents.

The root of the problems are pretty obvious to me: Panama is run by criminal a**holes.
Panamá by the rich and for the rich.
Thank you for making this video, Panama is a shithole right now.
today i learned that getting arrested in a supreme hat and being the president of a nation are not mutually exclusive
