  1. Hi Alan – Thanks for the great info. Is it possible to get residency for my 23 year old son who doesn’t attend university and lives with me when I relocate to Portugal?

  2. Very thorough and I should be able to follow your instructions, however after a lifetime of bureaucracy, I cringe at the paperwork. I'm concerned about the process wherein I have to commit to a lease (contractually) before I receive government permission to remain. I wonder therefore, HOW OFTEN does it happen that after committing to an apartment, you aren't given permission to stay??? And what happens in that case? It almost seems ass-backwards from a landlords point of view. Why would I want a lease on a long-term apartment when I'm not allowed to be in the country to use it??!! And lastly, do you happen to know… as an American, can I apply from a third country (Morocco? Turkey? Albania, for instance?) or must I fly all the back to the US to apply? (Devil is in the details. ugh) Best to you Alan and the "Great Leslie" as I think of her (though not the character portrayed by Tony Curtis. haha) 😉 Ciao.

  3. Such beautiful work you do–visually and informationally! In your meeting of other expats, are any there on Golden visa passports. I can't see any real benefit for those wanting to reside full-time in Portugal. Wondering if I'm missing something. They just seem to have a much, much higher financial bar and longer lead time than the D7.

  4. Your videos are very informative and, while sometimes dealing with unpleasant but important bureaucratic matters, they are at the same time relaxing, through filming and narration. Very well done!
I am a retired brazilian business administrator living in south Germany, with the intention now, after my wife passed away, to live in Portugal, particularly interested in Madeira. You mentioned that EU citizen don't need a fiscal representative to apply for the NIF, which is my case. Could I apply for it still living in Germany or do I need to be there to do it?
Keep up with the excellent work! Thank you so much!

  5. I plan on moving to Pt. next fall, when should I apply for my nif? Is the temporary nif renewable or can I get my permanent nif while still in the states? No seance in having to apply twice. Enjoying your walks, perhaps I will meet you in the near future!

  6. Just thought I would add that Norway's inflation rate has been increasing. At the end of June it was estimated to have an annual rate between 5 and 5.5%. At the end of July, it was estimated that this annual rate estimate has been raised to 6.8%. Interest rates on loans (and hopefully bank deposits) are being increased to help counter this.

  7. i have my passport, nif, background reports and a bank account in Portugal. Can i get an apartment while still in America? Do i need my residency permit first? What is my next step? what do you recommend? thx for your time.
