I'm with you, Romee–I love driving! From my sister's house to mine, it's 1,996 miles, which takes 4-5 days, enough time for serious thinking. I've made this drive several times by myself, and I look forward to the long drive each time.

Sorry things did not work out for you but you are alive and well so that is a good thing. You will find where you need to be in your life. I understand how it is to have your car fall apart I am old and my car is falling apart one piece at a time and since my husband passed away from cancer 2 years ago car repairs are something I can’t afford. I always pray for you and know things will work out for you eventually. Enjoy your life and keep a positive attitude and everything will work out for you.

The airport and plane thing is definitely all throughout Europe! Just the other day my friend landed into Heathrow airport and she and the passengers had to wait an hour and a half JUST for the bags, due to understaffing! And when the bags finally came through everyone started clapping and woo'ing too, just like those people waiting before your plane!
Anyway, I hope you find your new path in the Netherlands. You live in a nice place; I've been to Eindhoven and surrounding towns/cities many times before ❤️

My last two trainrides in Germany were such experiences, too. A 2 hour trip turned into 5 hours, and each connection was delayed. The other trip was supposed to be 4 hours ICE direct, no connections needed. Weather made trees fall on the tracks and we were stuck at a station for 3 hours alone, then rerouted only to be stuck again, and the 18:00 return time was almost 1 am the next day then.
I will have to think about packing enough home made food for such unplanned delays, because I can not eat what is offered in trian station vending machines or the board bistro (yay weird food allergies).

It will not keep me from traveling, no. It is annoying sometimes, but on the other hand it gives you chances to have good talks with strangers.

I've been thinking about moving out of my home to a situation a bit outside of my comfort zone. Seeing you deal with this has given me more confidence to just go for it and if it doesn't work out, I can work it out from there. Life is too short to be held back by the what-ifs.

I went to work away abroad one summer, in my 20’s after a bad break up. I lasted 7 weeks, but it was one of the hardest things I’ve done mentally. Home sick doesn’t cut it, on top of the break up. 30 years ago mental health wasn’t a thing people did, or had.. I mean they did, but it wasn’t recognised like it is today.. Coming home was the best thing for me.. you tried and that’s the main thing and after what you have been through too, it’s not easy. Always do what’s best for you.
