Happy New Year!
On today’s video, I wanted to share with you some big news! I’M OFFICIALLY LEGAL! That’s right! No more waiting in anticipation wondering when I’ll be an official Portuguese resident. In this video, I’ll be sharing my experience in obtaining my visa which I applied for an Article 15 visa.
For those who aren’t aware, my husband and children are all French citizens and because of them, I am able to obtain an Article 15 visa which is a family reunification to an EU citizen. This visa can be obtained while living in Portugal and one can apply once the EU citizen has applied for their residency.
I had initially thought this process would have been simple since most articles I’ve read made it seem that way, but boy was this a process. It really did test my patience. After nearly 6 months of living in Portugal, I was able to finally receive my temporary residency paper and now I’m just waiting for my actual residency card (to make it official!).
I will also go into depth my husbands’ process in obtaining his residency paperwork- Certificado do registo de cidadão da União Europeia. It was a much easier process than mine for sure!
Once I receive my card, I can then apply for my numero de utente (SNS number) and then go through my driver license exchange. Let’s hope that’s a much easier process than obtaining my visa.
