An influencer who had planned to go under the knife 42 times to become a “human Ken doll” has given up his dream – in favour of becoming a bricklayer’s assistant.
Felipe Adam, 18, real name Felipe Máximo Dias de Oliveira, had planned to have multiple surgeries to change his appearance into the popular toy, having been inspired by fellow Brazilian influencer Jessica Alves.
Alves, who is biologically male, has transitioned and was formerly called Rodrigo.
From the age of 14, Adam, who comes from Peruíbe in Sao Paulo State, has been working to buy new clothes, shoes and makeup to help him appear like the Mattel doll.
He used to spend over four hours in the bathroom to complete his transformation, having picked up 12,000 Instagram followers during his journey of discovery.
He previously said: “Ever since I was a kid, I watched my sisters draw Barbie dolls and I became curious about Ken doll.
“I [currently] only use makeup to get my Ken doll look – I use a strong liquid contour to draw the features of the doll on my face – although one day I really want some surgical work done to improve my performance as Ken.”
Unlike his idol – who has reportedly spent over £500,000 on cosmetic surgeries – Adam has now ditched plans to complete his full transformation into Ken.
Instead, he has reportedly traded in a life of makeup and glamour to work as a hod carrier on a building site.
The Instagram model was recently filmed grafting as a bricklayer’s mate on the site and has not shared any images of him as Ken doll since October last year, one month after stating he had changed his mind about undergoing surgery.
He said: “I saw problems in myself that didn’t exist.
“I don’t see the need for any operations now. I look at myself in the mirror and I can see myself.”
Adam also revealed that he has been living on his own since his sister moved to Portugal, and took the building job as a means of paying rent.
He was offered the job by his uncle and stepfather, who have been working in construction for many years.
Felipe told Jam Press: “I am doing well in the job and I see it as a profession I can use to move forwards in life. I feel good working in construction and I always enjoy learning.
“I haven’t given up on my dream of making a living on media, TV, internet, etc, because my story has already had a lot of repercussions.
“But today I am here. I still dream, but with my feet on the ground. I want to continue to grow in my current field of expertise.”
