When the portuguese government changed the law back in 2004, allowing house owners to kick out renters, and with the rising of airbnb and GOLDEN VISAS, people who have possibilities (money) started to buy and sell or rent it for short term, like airbnb, prices increased ten fold in the past 10 years. It was already hard for portuguese local people to own a house, now its practically impossible. The quantity of houses for short term in Lisbon comparing with Barcelona or even Paris are simply crazy! Like we say in portuguese "eles comem tudo e nós não comemos nada". From a portuguese who cant afford a house in Portugal.

  2. Now look at what capitalism has done to the world…… any country that practice capitalism has this housing affordability problems…. USA, Canada, Australia, England, Hong Kong, south Korea, etc…..
