Is this life changing? Life and struggles, LIVING OFF GRID in central Portugal.

Life OFF GRID is hard work! Clearing the land leaves you with waste and that also needs to be cleared. We can burn our waste and then the ashes will fertilise the land. It is an option we will definitely use. However we bought a machine that will also help clearing the waste and fertilise the land, We have a wood chipper.

We do our best to make the land back to a beautiful valley in central Portugal. We love to see what already is done and what previous owners have left us. It isn’t all bad because we have beautiful olive trees ready for harvest. Beautiful wells and a land that was loved.

So blessed to live here in our beautiful valley in central Portugal.

Thank you for supporting us by your encouragements and wonderful tips and advices 🥰

Blessings from,

  1. So proud of you. They kids are flowering, they learn skills. Very cool! We gave up the Portugal idea because of the heat and our old dog. Trying to find an old house in Hungary. Wages are low there, that got me thinking… do you 2 still have work next to this?

  2. Wonderful things are happening on your land. Just a suggestion, I’d pot up some of that mint so that you can keep it contained from spreading any further. The mint is great for keeping rodents away, along with its wonderful taste and medicinal properties. I remember my grandmother making us mint tea when our tummies were upset. Plus I remember her using mint in our sun tea which was a tasty flavor.

  3. Moreno, @ "The Dutch Farmer", has an excellent channel on gardening. He had a fantastic market garden in France and is now in your area of Central Portugal. He is a wonderful teacher on creating a no-dig and weed free garden. 🌱🌱🌱

  4. I think you are very happy to have exchanged life in the Netherlands for life in the countryside of Portugal. I can't wait to do the same. You are working really hard with the whole family!
