This week I finally start tackling something I have been dreading, renovating the greenhouse from a catch all to an actual growing space. Lots of random mess needs to be cleared out. I also built a new table to hold our seedlings, which needed to be protected with some chicken wire. Maarten fixed the door to lock the chickens in and took apart the big table that we have used the last few years. Now we are at the final stage of part one, having the chickens in there for a few weeks to help prepare the soil.

New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our toddler Puck and baby Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Two years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home. Want to see more updates? Don’t forget to subscribe!

Coming over from Lastdays Homesteading interesting to see how people live in other parts of the world Take care
Hi Lea! I'm curious where did you get your greenhouse? We're shopping for ours now, any tips would be welcome…. Not easy to find something robust for our North Portuguese climate 😀 😀 😀
Hi, hello good morning, Spring cleaning mate injoy it to all the best carry on with good work.
Beijos
A good song for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiY80W2hC3E
Love the use of the chickens to prepare and manure the ground.
Good job guys
Goede middag, Portuguese Homestead. Puck is growing up so quickly and has the most beautiful hair I have ever seen on a little one. The green house renovation is a good idea. I love your blogs and enjoy the humour and honesty very much. Have a lovely day.
"Time for wine" 🤣🤣🤣🥂
Hazel ☘️ …
Your children are adorable … I say it many times … but you are blessed with them, they’ll both be good solid, well rounded individuals as they are now and continue to be so … a credit to both of you …👍
Great job on the green house !
🙏☘️😘
I'd have kept the long table for all seedlings to be at same height and used under for storage, removing the small one you're using. This would've given you one entire side of greenhouse for planting.
This was such a wholesome video – cutie kids, i love how you try new things, maybe they work maybe not, but the main thing is you give it a shot, keep making them!
Chickens as micro-cultivators and weed seed control executives!!!
Love it!!!
Huge job, but it is going to be wonderful!
[My sympathy for your wonderful table, Maarten. But the end must come for all things….]
Excuse me but I love when you are doing another project. Love how you are SO european and switch from one language to another. Your children are SO fine. I would love for you to have a real house with bathroom🥰 I hope to be alive to see your build. God Bless.
I love the simpleness of it…pallets made into tables…no perfection required…functionality is key…chicken wire door…cats won't be ripping a hole in that…I love it
Tell me about the potatoes you planted in December.
Very strange winter i would say there in Portugal now on to spring projects great fun @portugesehomestead
Attach some of the foam cladding used to insulate pipes to help protect your plastic sheeting from the wire mesh. It is really useful in many places and can be cut to size quite easily. .
Children learn more from watching parents than listening to them. Leah and Martyn, you are patient, kind, hard working, both great examples of compassionate human beings. You teach respect for the earth and humanity. Your children will be the next kind, compassionate generation because of your work. Thank you for sharing your adventure. ❤🇺🇸🌹upstate New York 😉
Hi Lea you did a great job of reframing the table I was very impressed and the chick wire you can just lift it up to water the plants 🪴, I love how Puck stacked all the flower pots that were the same size that would be very spacious in the greenhouse just stack them and Bo in is getting there 💕 puck has the most beautiful hair she is beautiful 👍❤️, Martin does good too reframe in the front door to the greenhouse to keep the chickens and the cats out very nice well done till next week hopefully you have more 🌧 from Ohio with love ❤️
