Jack Shearing (b. 1998) is a painter currently living in London, UK.

“My work investigates aspects of memory and subjectivity in relation to space. Photography functions as an act of contemplation and gathering, recording the inflections of time; the changing light and atmospheric qualities of the space. Due to the format of the images (low quality, monochrome), the images are read in a historical sense, embedded within the nature of memory and recollection, which is fallible and unstable. The act of painting becomes a recuperation of this loss and aims to embody this relationship in closer detail. Textural details which are lost in the photographs are reanimated through the act of painting.”

PADA is an Art Residency & Gallery based in a post-industrial site near Lisbon, Portugal.
