Katie Eraser

Katie Eraser (b. 1986) is a painter and sculptor from Australia, now based in London.

“Exploring the relationship between the social experience of desire and destruction in relation to mental health and the queer identity, my practice focuses predominantly in surrealism and abstract figuration. I seek to create through the narration of mental ill-health, employing affection and compassion for the figures depicted, to permeate the space where there was once only suffering. Using surrealist sensibilities, the works delve into the indistinction between the real and the imagined, and a confusion between the animate and the inanimate. Facilitating an exploration of the physical reality vs the psychic reality of my perceptions, projections and paranoia.”

PADA is an Art Residency & Gallery based in a post-industrial site near Lisbon, Portugal.
