  1. Utterly amazing talk, just incredible stuff. That last story though, holy… Dev, I don't know if you can update the description after posting (I think so?), but you might want to put the start of that and the jump point past it into the description for those who aren't ready for that one, cause … damn. Love your work, you have helped me in MY job, which isnt even slightly in the realm of your line of work – I'm a blacksmith, and watching the door vids has allowed me to make suggestions to folks on installs and such for something that serves them better, as well as looks pretty.

  2. I've gotten the opprotunity to give a few presentations and talks to various orginizations that I've been a part of (Doing meetings, public speaking course work, explaining the things I work with to laymen) and I've absolutely tried to model how I talk and my attitude 'on stage' after Deviant. A really tremendously talented speaker, and someone who I think excels at giving people really good information.

Hugely nice video as well, really good watch and just glad to have this level of content avalible basically for free on youtube. Great video, and great talk!

  3. Personally, I would've left a lot of the Gun section out about getting people into special gun related clubs and instead would've added a detailed part about what action to take legally after shooting someone. Like you said, movies and TV get a lot of this wrong, and shooting someone can land you in some very hot water if you don't know your local and state laws and if you don't know what action to take after doing so.

  4. Great talk but just one issue on the dual passport topic but I think you neglected to point out the downside to it, especially if that other citizenship is for a country that is not as progressive as say the US or EU, and even then the complexity that can come out if you are detained overseas. For me, my easiest 2nd citizenship would be Pakistan. Still, for one the ability to travel with Pakistani citizenship is limited and 2nd being subjected to its laws as a citizen is not very appealing. And then the issue of traveling with that Non-US Passport and getting arrested overseas opens up the question what country will represent you. I cant find the article but there was a story of a US Citizen arrested in UAE bu the US government refused to help as he traveled to the UAE using his Lebanon passport.
So I would say getting citizenship of another country can be a great idea. Think about the risk and weigh them out. If you are ok with the laws of that country being applied to you, go for it.

  5. I used to have a valid passport… I'll renew it one of these days… Funny enough I had a customer a few days back saying I should get a passport and come see them in Canada. Other than wildly inappropriate and no I do not want to meet you lady, I find it funny both you and her were screaming from the rooftops to get your passport/get it renewed.

  6. As a "right winger", I love EVERYONE being armed, regardless of "jokes" you dislike from someone like Gthumb, say any words you want, retard, autist, it all applies to me. Speak softly and carry a big stick. Leftists have HUGE problems calling "other" people "others", we cant just all be humans who are armed and trained? its so sad honestly. Especially Gthumb who says just be nice. Be nice.

  7. I cant fathom how you consistently outdo yourself on these talks. I've probably watched most versions of all your talks over the years, your elevator talk is what pushed me over the edge to pursue joining TOOOL. But this one is the most thought and action provoking of all. You are a gentleman, a scholar, and an incredible asset to the hacker community. P.S. Trans rights are human rights.

  8. Didn’t the mcloski’s ( don’t know how to spell their name) come out their front door to them? Didn’t them guys bust through their front gates and walk up their personal driveway/property to get to house. I’d be a bit worried too. Don’t think I would’ve handled it the same. Sounds to me like ya have something personal with “Right Wingers”🤷🏼. Just because an idiot with bad fire arm practices. Or chooses a different political ideology, doesn’t make em all extremist. It would be like me judging you for ur obvious political views and judgement by the way ya came across in ur story. I’ll try to not hold it against you😂.

  9. Hey Deviant 😁 Amazing talk mate! Not sure if you will see this but figured I’d write it just in case you ever end up scrolling through the comments with a scotch one day 😛

During the middle, It seemed like you were implying that most of the bad in the world is coming from the “right” these days. I don’t think that was what you meant but I think it could maybe have been worded a little differently?

I completely understand that those were some of you person experience (which were beyond horrifying) and those are perfect examples of horrible people but I just wish awesome, influential people like you could try to push for unity as I think the world really needs that these days.

I just hope we can get to a place one day where people respect each other, even if they dislike each other’s views or disagree on things. Then we can only have 2 groups of people: 1) good people; and 2) bad people.

Maybe I’m just becoming delusional in my old age but, man, wouldn’t it be a cool world where just being a decent human being was the only thing people cared about 🤗

Anyways, I hope that makes sense and comes across as intended as just some constructive criticism for you to take or leave 😁

Love your stuff again mate and really hope Kara gets better soon!
