Me and my husband went thru security at the airport. We stopped on a bench to put our shoes back on. There was some of the gray trays they use on the bench. ( you know the ones you put your stuff in to scan). Then we got up to walk to the waiting area to board our plane to go home. I asked my husband for his paper ticket. All of a sudden he realized he didnt have it. We ran back to security area and checked the trays by the belt for it. Not there. All of a sudden I thought of the bench. We went there nothing, until I picked up one of the trays on top of another, and there was my husbands drivers license and boarding pass. He had put it in the tray to put his shoes on, and someone put a tray on top of his tray. Usually it is in the most obvious places. ( unless it is stolen of course) Luckily we found it in time. Sorry you didnt get to go on your trip. What a bummer. Hopefully you will be able to go another time.

It’s such a shock to the system when you are such a responsible person and something like this happens. Just remember to take lots of deep breaths. You may never figure out exactly what happened. Take some downtime to regroup and do not beat up on yourself. You may have been pickpocketed. You will survive this. Carry on.

There is a bit of wisdom in backpacking that if you have something important hanging on your backpack tie it on tight lest it fall on the trail behind you never to be seen again.

Maybe you loss it in vehicle you rode to in airport! Hopefully you get another passport soon!

Bummer 😞 something similar happened to a friend, we were taking an overseas trip, he somehow left for the airport without his passport…I arrived to the hotel and had to wait a couple of hours because it was booked in his name only…he arrived the next day on a standby flight that I believe cost him a couple thousands too… eventually we shook off that annoying start and had a great time…glad you got all your points back to maybe go at a later time 🛀

I'm so sorry, how very disappointing!! Things have happened to me in the past and afterwards I realized I was protected! I think you just may have been saved from something!! Maybe God's looking after you!!!

Menopausal brain. Forgetfulness, sleep issues and a multitude other issues. You probably should be around family and friends more often. 50 something yr olds aren't spring chickens anymore. Have to give up some of your independence. Happens to all of us!

Amber – a long time ago, I lost my driver's license. I was a driver – so couldn't work. Then I had to fly across country. Thankfully – it was before all the restrictions on flying – and so they accepted a non-driver's license ID for me to fly. Years later I realized God had protected me. I KNOW that I KNOW He did. It is kind of like when you drive on a road and you got out late so you missed the GIANT pileup that you would have been in. So while you may not understand why this didn't work – God does as He sees the end from the beginning. And I am thankful you didn't lose points. The planning, the orchestrating – was NOT in vain. Now you will be ready when it is actually time. – whether with an expedited passport or not Please do not be discouraged. Hopefully you also have lifelock or something to protect yourself from identity theft – just on the off chance that someone bad found it. Praying for your decisions and for you to have peace. Love your channel and I was one of those who for the longest time was not subscribed. I guess because I have a ton of subscriptions – I would miss videos and I found that when I didn't – they would actually show up on the youtube feed page because I like and comment. But I know it blesses you and your channel so finally did a couple of videos ago!

Finally got a chance to finish watching…Amber…hun…don't ever think that if you forget or lose something that your being "irresponsible" because your not. Amber I've been watching you and Lilly for a few years, you are my hero. I took the plunge and rented a van from Outdoorsy, this will be my first RV/Van adventure. I'm flying from the midwest to Phoenix AZ, driving up to Prescott and staying in a campground, not bold enough to boondock yet. Note: Portugal is my dream international destination.

Since nobody turned in your passport, I suspect you may have been pick pocket. If I walk a lot, sometimes the back pocket items go up and that would be enticing to those pickers.
I recommend fanny packs for traveling.

Hi Amber, I’m so sorry this happened to you. As Emy Hewitt mentioned in her comment I also believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason. It’s still a bummer for sure. I just got back from a couple of trips (via airplane) and traveling is very stressful for most ppl. Even the experienced traveler. In the event you do travel by airplane in the future here’s s a tip regarding the travel pillow. Put the thicker( the snap in the back) part in the front!!! Makes a world of difference. 😊😊 I love the info about the AirTags, though. I’ve never heard of them. Thank you. Please stay safe.
