Hi guys, I am Alex.

I am an Ukrainian expat who moved to Portugal.
No one in my family ever did any farming, But I discovered that I am very passionate about farming so recently I’ve purchased this 28 hectares Farm in Central Portugal, with the intention to start a small scale farm raising worms, cattle and sheep.

In this little farm I am also planning to build an off grid home, and be as self sufficient as possible, by growing my own food.

I created this channel to share my journey with the world, The journey of a first generation farmer, that is starting with no prior knowledge and experiences.
That maybe all the mistakes that I will make along this journey, and all the fails maybe will help some of you to learn from my mistake and not make them yourself.
I want to bring value and inspire people who are thinking about farming.

I am not a filmmaker or an editor, I am just a simple guy with a camera.

So if it is interesting to you, subscribe to the channel and you will not miss the upcoming episodes.

  1. Beautiful apartment! Is your farm near there? Of course we care about the personal part of your life. I must say I feel very attached to Angelica and love her interacting with you and your Dad, but only you know what is best and I will continue to follow your journey.

  2. So sorry for the loss of your dog Alex, I know how much it hurts too ❤😢 I am sure you will find a solution that is good for everyone so that you are able to continue your fantastic renovation of the farmhouse. We are in Lousa which is just along the N233 if you ever need any help and I have a big truck with a tow bar 😃👍👋🏻

  3. Hi Alex. Sorry about your loss we just had to put down my sons 13 year old French Bulldog and it was very tough. The adding your dog to the farm will take some time but your dog needs to know that you or your Dad are the alfa's of your pack and what you say goes. Your dog needs to understand that there are good animals and bad animals that will be coming to your property and it's up to you to show your dog which are which because at this point your dog will have no idea. Tie up the dog on a leash and have her watch interactions with Angelica for at least a day before you try and put them together then try to put them in a enclosed area but separated by fencing. Make sure you keep letting your dog know that you are in charge of the situation and if she acts bad correct her verbally and take her away and put her on a leash by herself for 10-15 min then try again. They are a smart loyal breed and to please you she will get it in time. Good luck

  4. So sorry for losing your dog to old age. I know you are nervous about what will happen to Angelia. It would be sad if the dog attacked the sheep. Some dogs will do that. It's the pry mindset of dogs. I would suggest teaching Sheba to "leave it" with food. Then if she goes after the sheep there is a command to interrupt Sheba's mindset. That's the problem, they get fixated on the smell, animal, and what is this animal. You have to stop that mindset. Look at me Sheba, Leave the sheep alone, I am better than the sheep. I would also have a run made for Sheba in the shade where she can not get loose. This may not work, as you said she is old and has not been around farm animals. Another way of looking at this is to fence off the area Angelia roams in. I have never seen a sheep welcomed into a house. It's funny and Angelia is a pet but someday she will have babies and you don't want lambs running around so close to the house. I hope I have not offended you with my suggestions. Take care, you are doing a wonderful job with your house and animals.

  5. Hi Alex thank you for sharing, just like you I moved to Canada from Portugal when I was a teenager and started a new life and just like you I'm a animal lover, every day life brings challenges but that's how it is.
I admire you and your family for your strength and hard work.
Good luck and keep going ❤️

  6. bless you for being so thoughtful… maybe create a different enclosure that gives enough space for your 🐕 dog.. so that he can spend the days with you? OR just take a rest both you and your dad, take some off until your mother gets back… we will miss your updates , but family first!

  7. Hey this is your life Alex. Thank you for sharing, even to hear sad news. We don't feel there is any disrespect on your part.
Whatever you decide to do concerning your life at the farm is your business. We are amazed and humbled at the progress you and your dad have made. Wouldn't want to miss anything you have to share with us, ever. Chin up Alex. Greatest respect from New Zealand.

  8. Hey Alex, I'm so sorry for the passing of your dog, Jackie, dogs are family. Really cool that you are bringing Chisa with you – she looks like a super dog! The dynamic between Chisa and Angela will sort itself out. Angela might need more attention from you though for some time 🙂 x

  9. Hi Alex! Sad to hear about your dog. Mostly I work with old dogs so I understand how hard it is when dog pass away. With Angela and your other dog try small steps and on the beginning always on the leash, you need to control situation. I work with animals from many years so if you have any question just let me know.

  10. Alex – I had 3 dogs in my life one after the other and they lasted 14 – 15 years, and to last that long they have to be lucky, cared for and loved. I do hope your remaining dog learns to get on with or at least tolerate Angelica a sheep that thinks it's a dog. It's also nice to know your back story a little.

  11. You have my sincere condolences about the passing of your dog. 🙁 I have been through that, and I respect your decision to wait a while before letting us know about such a difficult thing happening for you, and I appreciate you sharing it with us at all.

Just so you know, I think it's fairly safe to say that there are a LOT of your viewers who really do care about the things you say, what's going on in your life, etc. As somebody who tends to binge all the way through from beginning to end of all the videos when I find a channel like yours that I really enjoy, I can let you know that after a few videos, ya tend to start feeling a connection to the people you're watching. They begin to feel kinda like familiar friends, even if you have never met them. So, never think what you say or do doesn't matter to us! 🙂 You are loved by thousands of strangers! 🙂

I just want to add that in a day where people are becoming more and more estranged from each other as the traditional family unit is being dissolved, and technology has replaced togetherness, channels like yours seem to hold a very special place in society, a means for us to feel connected to someone, even if it's someone we've never met, and I think that feeling provides hope for a lot of people. So thank you. 🙂
