We hung out for a couple of days at the beach in Costa da Caparica, Portugal. Across the Tagus River in the Lisbon metro area, this beach is very close to central Lisbon. We took an Uber from our apartment and it took about 20 minutes to get there.
The beach is HUGE! Lots of room on the sand, a long boardwalk, and plenty of restaurants/bars with beach views. There were also several surf schools in the area.
We stayed at Tryp Costa da Caparica Hotel, which was convenient and comfortable.
We LOVED the BBQ burger at Friends Pub & Hamburgueria! Do yourself a favor and just go here if you love a good burger. Nice beer selection too.
We even found some delicious nachos and tacos at Huracán. Being from Southern California, we’re picky about Mexican food. We’d come back to Huracán!
If you love spending time at the beach, you should definitely check out Costa da Caparica!

Kirsten Costa da Caparica isnt Lisboa ! Costa da Caparica is a City located in the municipality of Almada along the western coast of the district of Setúbal
Thanks for your videos! Love your content and can’t wait to visit Portugal one day. That sunset was stunning!
Wow, Lagunitas. From Denver, I always wondered if I'd be giving up good beer 🍺 if moved to Pt.
Beautiful! "Friends" looked so cool. Do you recall the month/day of the week this was? This is totally my type of uncrowded glory!
Hey Kirsten – fellow San Diegan here – though this beach could almost be a standin for Huntington Beach, OC – right down to the tacos!. Not surprised that you wouldn’t find the water too cold, being from SD. What people sometimes forget is colder water = lower humidity.
It's Southern California water temperature. It feels cold to people from tropical areas and it feels warm to people from Northern European countries.
The beach water in Europe is cold to me but I’m used to Florida and Saint Simon Island, Georgia beaches. That being said, I don’t care how cold the water is, it’s all about the beach for me ❤️
Thanks Kirsten for showing Costa da Caparica—which I’ve heard a lot about but haven’t visited (yet). The area, beach and water all look lovely. Hope you don’t mind a few questions: 1) Is it practical to do a day trip from Lisbon on public transportation? 2) Does the beach also rent chairs and umbrella’s? 3) What month did you visit—it looked not too crowded so I assume this was during Spring. 4) I’ve only heard Mexican food in PT is not that great but maybe you found a good spot. 👍🏻 5) Looks like your hubby is warming up to casual appearances. 😛 Thanks again for your videos. We hope to visit soon.
