Thank you very much for your informative videos. I was wondering if you know anything about the funicular at miradouro graca
Joric, always enjoy your posts. Any news on a new airport somewhere in Portugal? Had heard something about a military perhaps being used? Not sure if that’s true…Obrigado, JP
Thanks Joric for this and all your updates.
On the airport front, I wanted to share my recent experience at Faro and Porto airports—since I’m not a big fan of the Lisbon Airport (i.e., avoid if you can).
FARO—arrived from Zurich in mid-September 2022 mid-morning. No passport control upon arrival, no baggage control…just walk off the plane, pick you bag up and leave. I’d characterize this airport as “mid-size” and a little tired looking on the inside. The exterior was very welcoming for an arriving passenger. It has services one would expect for an arriving passenger.
PORTO—Departed to Madrid in early-October 2022 late afternoon. Numerous check-in stands. Security was organized but of a long haul. I got thru on the ‘priority’ lane (since I had status w/SkyTeam alliance) but my better half did not so she was siphoned to the cattle car lanes.
Once inside, many places to eat and services for departing customers one would expect. With a metro stop, I’d characterize Porto as a modern mid-size airport.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Stay away for Lisbon—if you can. Faro and Porto are much less stressful and organized compared to cramped conditions in Lisbon—which needs a new airport asap. Keep in mind non-stop flights to other destinations are limited compared to Lisbon. We had to make connections anyway so this wasn’t an issue for us.
NEXT TRIP TO PT: Considering arriving in Porto and leaving from Faro (opposite of our recent trip) to get a complete picture of the airport scene in continental PT. Cheers.
Was just there and loved lisbao the most out of porto and lagos
