Thinking about moving to Lisbon Portugal? The city is full of beautiful neighborhoods that many people do not take the time to explore. Come along with me as I take a brief walk through Alvalade. Alvalade is full of eateries and shops, has excellent metro access, and is a flat, walkable neighborhood. It is also home to the Universidade de Lisboa.
Some might say a downside to Alvalade is airplane noise, as it is directly beneath the flightpath for LIS. Having grown up in the shadow of a US Naval station, I find airplane noise strangely comforting. Alvalade is a beautiful neighborhood and would be a wonderful place to live.
I start the walk at Praça Alvalade, where Metro Station Alvalade (green line) is located. I walked along Avenida da Igreja and turned left onto Avenida Rio de Janeiro. Here you will find the Mercado de Alvalade Norte. I continued along Avenida Rio de Janeiro until I reached Avenida do Brasil, where I again turned left, and continued until I reached Campo Grande. I love a good park so I turned left to walk through Campo Grande, until I got to Metro Station Entrecampos (yellow line).

This is a great neighborhood. We are currently staying nearby. It's a quick walk to other cool places too, like Campo Grande.
