Elena Taber, 23, lives with two roommates in a 3-bedroom apartment in New York City’s East Village. Together they pay $5,150 a month in rent. Elena works as a full-time YouTuber and pays $1,850 for her room.

  1. Why do people continue to live in that city. Everyone hates each other, or rude, it’s smells, the politicians don’t care about the communities and the cost of living is horrible. I really don’t understand.

  2. All native born nyers know this is expensive, but as someone who works in a place where all my coworkers are not from ny, they all actually choose to live in these neighborhood locations when I recommend them something else for half the price, I’m not sure why for example bedstuy or Astoria and obviously Manhattan.

  3. So happy I left NYC & moved to my dream place ( Hawai’i ) I am a Native New Yorker. I’m not a fan, y’all stay safe though . 5K???!! And you’re paying 1.8k for a ROOM?? OMG .

    Me, 5 minutes away from the beach and my rent is affordable. Wow!
