  1. I've been binging your videos today and you ladies inspire me. I'm moving back in with my family for a year to save money and pay off debt, and a huge part of me wants to follow my dreams and relocate after that year period. I'm blessed to have a remote job, so this definitely feels like a sign!

  2. I found your channel today. Glad I did. Thank you for all the info about bills in Portugal. I feel the same about how you feel before moving. I been in USA for 31 years and I need a new change of life. Question: how much money I need to make the move? Second question: Is been hard for me to find a job in Portugal, looking for a remote job in the USA or in Portugal.

  3. I just heard you talk about Nepali food! I'm originally from Nepal and was so excited to hear that. Of course, it's my favorite food, but I'm biased 🙂 So glad to hear you like it. Makes me even more excited about Lisbon and Portugal.

  4. Could you please do a video about your hair care routine in Portugal? Where do you find products that work for your hair? Are their hair care brands as effective as the ones here? Are they available in certain neighborhoods and stores?

  5. I am so glad that you made this post cause I am looking into moving there and as a blk women I was so worried about moving abroad I was concerned about the unknown now I feel so much better

  6. I am Portuguese and I had to stop the video a couple of times because of how sad I felt for the pain black men and women deal with and happy at the same time to see that Portugal and its living pace and its people can offer every ethnicity a place under its Sun.
There are many explanations to why this is still a problem for people around the World but we all must move forward and ignore the noise of ignorance and even the ugliness in some hearts.
Portugal is not perfect but when we, as Portuguese, hear how our country can offer some relief and peace to those with a soft heart and positive mind, we want to do more and we take pride in that so, thank you for letting us know these facts and I hope your children grow up to be positive minds and open all of their potential in Portugal or wherever they decide to live!

  7. We Portuguese are a humble people and we welcome everyone very well. You live in the capital but if you go north the people are even more welcoming, friendly and we like everyone regardless of race, color or religion. We are peaceful and we know what it is to be an emigrant and we are sensitive to outsiders. The same cannot be said of other countries in Europe. We're known for being the good guys in the movie. Please don't leave Portugal and explore the rest of the country. Don't be afraid that you will always be welcomed everywhere. In the villages they even ask you to stay and eat. Greetings from Portugal.

  8. I'm so thankful for your videos. I have been thinking about moving to Portugal for a long time, but was pretty nervous about it because I have adult kids here and soon grandchildren. My biggest issue was how would I be treated as an African American and your videos have really helped me. Thank you

  9. This is resonating on such a fundamental level. I have always traveled and I miss it so so much. The nomad in my spirit is ready to make another move lol! Loved this video! It's a scary prospect moving to a whole other country. But I am so ready. I am working on some things. The first hurdle I overcame was I became basically DEBT FREE a year ago. Now I'm working on getting my writing career more solidified cause I just need flexibility and autonomy. This was inspiring!!! Strangely, listening to Julie describe Lisbon makes me feel homesick/yearn for a place I have never lived! Sometimes I look at myself and I ask where did your light go? I feel so weighed down and stifled and my anxiety levels have been astronomical. I developed an auto immune situation from it. Stress has my hair falling out and I am just not feeling joy in anything. And I know it's time for a serious reset. I have always been an adventurous person and I am so ready to make a serious life change! I have no problem walking away from everything lol but it did hit different bout my spices cause I have quite a collection cause I COOKS 😂😂😂 but it's all good. The start ovee will be more joyful! I done edited this 50 times as I am listening. That story bout y'all couldn't communicate at the hang out sent me 😂😂 y'all better coordinate google translate conversations 😂😂😂😂😂 and the music – if they have zouk that's all I need 😂 you three lifted my spirits m I need that FR!👍🏽⭐ Subbed

  10. I really enjoyed this video! I extremely resonated with what was said by your two guests in this episode. How their mental health was being detrimentally affected due to living in the United States as a black woman.

I have had therapists for several years and what you said about not wanting to live in Spain, I had a terrible time studying in Italy twice and my shrinks helped me through it.

I am currently halfway through my “Blaxit” process. I am a graduate student at the University of Porto in African Studies and my classes have been on Zoom. And they are in Portuguese. I took a Portuguese course at the school in the summer.

I’m in the process of filing for D7 for the whole family. My mother is already retired. I’m worried about finding a job there but with tourist season coming and being an English speaker, I’m hoping maybe some hotel will give me a chance.

I’m not there yet but I’ve known I wanted to leave the United States since 2016. And Covid/George Floyd gave me the extra push to apply for the masters program and I was accepted!

Just had the fingerprints done. I’m getting nervous about being black there because of past workplace trauma and experiences abroad. But everything I see is mostly positive coming from Americans. I know Afro-Brazilians have a much more difficult time but the girls in my cohort are so excited for me to meet them.

And I have to agree: you all are baddies 🙂 thanks for giving me some hope about getting out of the United Snakes!

  11. U r 3 beautiful ladies. TY for choosing 🇵🇹 my country. My people welcome u. There will always be racists anywhere, but Portugal is NOT institucionally a racist country. It is multicultural, vibrant, safe and not bad looking. Myself, I grew up in Lisbon, & had the most wonderful childhood. Being a child in Portugal is delightful. Even though 🇵🇹 is nor perfect, the good far outweighs negatives. Try 2step out of ur expat community, travel thru 🇵🇹 & see the true gems 🇵🇹 has to offer. . As for the burocracy, it sucks, but I traveled the 🌐 & believe me, it is much worse in so many other places. It is heavenly peaceful & still safe here. U glow & r happy here. I moved from AZ to 🇵🇹 3.5 yrs ago after growing up here to the age of 13;I never forgot it. 🇵🇹 changes u, let it change you. I arrived in a wheelchair and I am walking again. My skin glows, the sun shines (most of the time), I can afford living, my cable/Net/and cell costs me €60, not US$150, I can afford my 13 meds, I eat fresh food, I can afford organic food, i can afford cafés galore, I can travel anywhere, I can take my dog out at 2AM and feel perfectly safe alone. My police force headquarters is right across the street, but even then, they are fair and polite to ALL. I Don't MISS the US, and if I want Costco, it can be found in Seville, Spain, less than a 3 hr car ride away. As for the consulates in the US not answering the phones, I hate that, but they are swamped. Everybody now wants to move to 🇵🇹, my own sister and her 🇺🇸 husband and kids are moving back next year. With Covid they are overwhelmed, overworked, backlogged and only have 4 or 5 working in SFO, I know that for a fact. Palm Coast in FL, has ONE single guy; he is going nuts working every day from 9am-9:30pm (!) and is months behind on his work schedule. If u feel you are not getting the help and professionalism you well deserve fm them, do what I did. U will see how fast they answer your emails and requests!! Write a complaint email to the Embassy in WashDC. All consulates answer to them, then copy the Portuguese Ministry Cabinet that controls ALL embassies and consulates, worldwide. U will see how fast u get an answer!! Email the 🇵🇹 DC embassy at:
sconsular. washington@mne.pt then copy the 🇵🇹 Ministry (or Cabinet) of Foreign Affairs at gabinete.ministro@mne.gov.pt
Hope this helps. Stay beautiful healthy & happy in beautiful Portugal. Xoxo🤗😁❤️🇵🇹
