LIVING OFF THE LAND: Autumn Harvests on our 1.5 Acre Off Grid Homestead

This week we collected some olives for brining, found some hidden grapes, made an autumnal salad and helped out Nick from Project Portugal.

If you’d like to support our project then we’d be so grateful if you bought us a ‘Kofi” (which will go towards our latest project, whether building the house or working the land):

Beijinos e abraços,
Carissa, Iwan, Frankie & Albi

Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

  1. Hello Carissa and Iwan. Wasn’t it just olive harvest time? I remember last year’s harvest. Bonus grape harvest for a bit of fizzy wine. The table in the living room is a great idea. See you next week. I love seeing the shots of your property and, of course, your beautiful dogos❤️❤️

  2. Oooh i'm gonna have to look at olive fly, never heard of it so presumably not here. What management practices are available for it? I know we need to be extremely strict with Mediterranean fruit fly here.

  3. Again, so interesting watching you both with your projects. Beautiful video editing…and the music! I think fall may be my favorite time in Portugal…as seen via armchair traveling. Animals can teach us so much; a safe and warm place to lay our head with friends.

  4. Loved the olive throwing, we need to play beer pong! Oooooh more fizzy wine❤️ loved Albi cleaning Diogo. Loving the seedlings, think you may be a bit early with the chick peas😁Andrea is very jealous of your greenhouse🤔😡🤣
Nice crop gathering beautiful video again guys ❤️

  5. Your property is so pretty – looks like just the right amount of sun and shade and a perfect size to be able to manage the land, the animals and all the tasks around the property.

  6. Iwan and hus arm full off girls were so adorbs. Your rainy glade walk was pretty… i wondered if you might be at Nick & Andrea's. It's so good you can help them, too. That soup looked delish. And your capture of their billiard room happily occupied was a first i think, wonderful. Sweet greenhouse sproutings. Beautiful garden, srsly garden🏵🌼🍃🌿 salad, scary slipper.

  7. How adorable is your tiny but productive olive tree 🤗. Thank you letting us feel as tho we're right there with you thru your olive mini project.

Please include your making it rain olives from above to camera doen below in your big harvest video again. Loved that clup last year. Your land is looking autumn beautiful. YES, never waste found grapes, more Iwan fizzy wine 🙆🏻‍♀️!
