Louis XIV, King of France from 1638 to 1715, ruled over the court at Versailles with the sheer magnetism of his personality. All were desperate to be in the light of the sun king. His image was paramount to maintaining his place at the center of the Universe. The 5’4” monarch wore high heels and voluminous wigs. And he made sure the world knew he was a virile man with plenty of mistresses. While at least 20 women came and went from his majesty’s bed, he was emotionally devoted to 3 women in succession; Louise de La Vallière, Madame de Montespan and finally Madame de Maintenon whom he secretly married after the death of his Queen. Let’s meet the mistresses of King Louis XIV:
Catherine Bellier, Baroness de Beauvais
Marie Mancini, Duchess & Princess of Paliano

Louise de La Vallière, Duchess of La Vallière & Vaujours
Olympia Mancini, Countess of Soissons
Bonne de Pons d’Heudicourt, Marquise d’Heudicourt
Catherine Charlotte de Gramont, Princess of Monaco
Gabrielle de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Marquise of Thianges

Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart, Marquise de Montespan
Anne de Rohan-Chabot, Princess of Soubise

Isabelle de Ludres, Marquess of Ludres
Claude de Vin des Œillets

Marie Angélique de Scorailles, Duchess of Fontanges
Françoise d’Aubigné, Marquise de Maintenon

  1. Françoise de Montespan was born Rochechouart de Mortemart one of a oldest aristocratic family of France. She liked to tease the king saying that her family was older than his.
She had the famous Mortemart spirit, madame de Sévigné said of her that:
"To the most surprising beauty, she joined the most lively, the finest, the best cultivated spirit, this hereditary spirit in her family".

  2. My eight year old daughter & nine month old son love watching your videos together. I just bought an Established Titles package for my mom using your code. Thank you!!

  3. i wish i could go back in time and see what these people really looked like. no way louie was that good looking to get all these women lol. atleast he had a variety in mistresses, they all weren't just hot stacked blondes with no brains or somethin.

wait they had cancer in the 1600s? wtf that seems early lol

  4. Back then women shut up and suffered their husband’s affairs and abuse. I never would want to go back to that era. He did any of that now a days he would have his chariot trashed, wigs burned, and clothes ripped apart, divorced, and half the country taken.

  5. Great vlog as always! I lost Louis 14th and his lovers at the bakery. Mamma Mia! What a jungle of lovers, nannies and drama! That is a town in Greece btw. I can not even get ONE misstress… I am no king. It could be the reason… lol! Keep up your splendid work!
