Macron’s government survives no-confidence vote in parliament • FRANCE 24 English

French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne survived her first no-confidence vote in parliament on Monday sponsored by the hard-left opposition. The vote came as President Emmanuel Macron was under pressure to explain allegations of his past support for taxi app Uber while he was economy minister.

  1. Mélanchon is upset that Le Penn is not joining forces with him, but neither want responsibility.

The big problem is what happens to Macron's party: his natural constituency are centre-left voters or social democrats, so relying on the republicans would undercut this.

  2. This is the first French Parliament (under the fifth Republic) to have a hung parliament, in which Coalition/Bloc Government has been formed. And the most paralyzed Parliament since 1986. If neither the Left nor the Right have interest in working with the Centrist Minority Government, then there's no question I believe a snap election will be called sometime in the next year.
This is not health for the people of France, who need a stable government, and functionable parliament.
