MAR 2022 Cost Of Living – Madeira, Portugal (Early Retirement Budget)

Welcome to our March, 2022, Cost of Living Early Retirement Budget, here in Madeira, Portugal. This is our 5th Cost of Living video. We are loving Island Life, and our new Freedom. In October, 2021, we retired early and moved abroad to Portugal at age 50, after selling everything and downshifting to our “Second Half of Life.” And we brought along our 9.5 year-old dog! We share our monthly early retirement budgets with you, as well as a healthy living retirement lifestyle, retirement finances, and world travel as a couple. It’s interesting for us to see how much (or how little) money we really need to live a happy, healthy lifestyle. As we share our cost of living month-to-month, we hope you find it helpful and a little interesting, as you pursue your “2nd Half of Life!” 👍 🍻 🙂

  1. Good tips! I haven’t signed up for the loyalty programs yet. That’s a must-do for me. And I’m glad I brought some warm stuff…who knew the subtropics would be so chilly??? Thanks for the good info.

  2. Thank you for the great videos! Very informative, professional, and you seem like a very friendly couple! We are coming to Madeira for holiday soon, can’t wait!

  3. Great to see that you are enjoying your early retirement 😀. Happy travel.
Thank you for the great information in your cost of living videos 👏👏👏. Looking forward to your travel videos and day to day activities. Would you be able to provide information on renting, buying a home, immigration lawyer etc. May be an interviews with real estate agent etc. I am getting the feeling that renting or buying on the island may be limited? In addition, seeing the beauty of the island through your eyes and videos would be great. Cheers and many thanks 🙏🥂. Love your channel 😀👍

  4. Thanks for another great video! I never knew about Porto Santo until I started researching Madeira, and the ferry seems to be a great inexpensive way to experience a quite different landscape. I don't know if the hotel rates I see are low season, but those also were very reasonable. Given that we spend $1600 per year to insure two cars here in the US with all the available discounts for no accidents/tickets, home insurance with the same carrier, etc. your cost seems remarkably low. What does your car insurance cover there?
