  1. It will probably be their last World Cup even though Messi can still play at the 2026 World Cup. Can they win it or go far? Nobody can know, that Portugal faces the toughest challenge. If they do not go out of the group, they will qualify as 2nd, so probably out before the Quarterfinal. Argentina is in the same bracket, probably out before the Quarterfinal. So no World Cup trophy for Argentina or Portugal. I also see nobody expects an African team or Asia team in the last 4 or last 8. It is nothing new, however, there will be 2 big surprising teams in the last 8 from those continents. This is if there is fair refereeing from Var people.

  2. Theory: Cristiano Ronaldo will win the world cup in his career

Okay think about it. Best case scenario is he wins it at Qatar this year. Worst case is that Portugal gets eliminated from the competition, but I'm going to explain why this is okay.
Remember when FIFA or someone announced they are trying to make the World Cup every TWO YEARS??? That gives Cristiano BETTER ODDS on winning the World Cup!!!

Also, don't forget that the 2026 World Cup is going to combine Canada, USA, and Mexico as host nations for this event. In addition, they are trying to include I believe MORE TEAMS in this World Cup. Do you honestly believe Cristiano is going to miss out on this crazy competition??? This is going to be the first time FIFA has ever done this. Don't quote me, but just hear me out, I think Cristiano has a really good chance on winning the world cup in his career!

  3. How are they gonna talk about problems with predicting Argentina for sure going farther because of the 7 month time gap between now and the World Cup, but then go on to talk about South Korea being a problem for Portugal bc they beat Germany 4 years ago…. By that logic then yeah Mexico is a threat to Argentina bc they beat Germany to, you can’t just say Mexico isn’t good enough to be a problem to Argentina. How is Poland a problem? Besides them having Lewondowski? Who haven’t done anything in any tournament they’ve been in recently.

  4. I find it HILARIOUS that there was no mention of Messi’s terrible form and lackluster season. They just said “oh well if we get the messi of old, argentina should be good”. Ok why not make that same argument again…”oh if we get the Cristiano of old Portugal should be good”

  5. Regardless of the result, Portugal vs Argentina would be a great spectacle. One final chapter this epic rivalry deserves.

Portugal currently has more overall talent but Argentina is playing better as a team, If this match is the semifinal, it will potentially be more watched over the world than the final

  6. It’s a long way still and form changes, just like Portugal did in three months. Possible for Argentina to get there and bottle it, and for Portugal to fix their woes and go further. Also possible for the Portuguese to not pass the group and Argentina to win it. Best outcome is both to play each other in that final and give us a show because if Portugal does find that balance, the level of football in that potential game would be beautiful, a great send off to both.

  7. Can we get a little more bias in this commentary pls guys. You're bordering on appearing to be objective here. Also loving the implications that CR7 is at fault for both Portugal and Man United. Top notch journalisming.

  8. The way these clowns downplay and disrespect Ronaldo is unbelievable!!! Playing in a below average Manchester United with Maguire at the back in the toughest league and still scoring 15 goals is because of his greatness !!! We all know how espn clowns hates Ronaldo !!

  9. Looking at both Messi and Ronaldo this season. It's funny to hear that Ronaldo is a liability and Messi will carry Argentina. Considerin Messi us not doing that well in French league compared to Ronaldo in Epl

  10. Portugal got more talented players but Argentina plays as a unit and got the easier side of the bracket. Both got a real shot getting to the final

  11. It's World Cup anything could happen.
Argentina faces France/Denmark in RO16. And any team in the world cup wouldn't want to face any of these 2. Denmark would probably be 2nd in their group and would face Argentina who i guess should win their group. And Denmark should not be underestimated. They are not going down without giving a fight.
If Argentina wins then they would probably face Netherlands in quarters and that should actually be a relatively easy match compared to RO16.
After that in semis only God knows what happens. It's very hard to predict so much early on in the world cup.

  12. Ronaldo sure knows how to silence his haters eh!! Talking about him not scoring or carrying his weight for Man Utd?? Yet the guy goes to score a Hat- Trick that was so significant in the game, and the league position especially now top 4 race feels back on. Ronaldo always make dem Espn paundit look so silly and stupid every damm time.
37yrs old guy scoring hat -tricks none of them seated could still kick a ball @37.
I'm grateful to ve been born the to
Messi & Ronaldo play the game of football who knows when next this will ever happen.

  13. Makes me laugh how these pundits (especially in Argentina ironically) were Dissing Argentina prior to Copa and now they’re praising the FC, now calling Argentina potential favorites to win the WC. LOL.
Should Argentina win it all, they’ll say it’s bc of “Di María” 🤣
