Also we have a srise visitor..one without a body .. In the next episode i will try to frame the rest of the door and get the other wall filled back up. Also i still need to clean the roof tiles.
My name is Jasper and i bought a house in a Portuguese ghost town. Together with my dogs Zoey& Akira we show you the rebuild of our house en what it is like living the daily life in Central Portugal.

if you wet the wall and paint on some FEB BOND which is a concrete adhesive . also add a small drop to the mortar.
you will have much improved results.
✌
not sure if it would have helped, but did you try to wet the stones before flicking on the cement? that should get a better stickiness to the stones i think. Have not tried that yet, just suggesting 🙂 gl snd keep up the good work 😛
Give the smokes away mate, before you end up like me on oxygen, my last smoke was over 3 years ago but too late. My only regret in life is smoking Cheers Jeff
hi and greetings from Ireland you are doing good work it's a learning process always wet the surface and do not apply to much plaster at the one time scratch the first coat of plaster than apply the finish coat to much plaster at the one time causes swelling so you cannot float it up good luck and kind regards
Jasper could you give us a closeup of the plant please?????
Thanks Jasper.
Hi there Jasper maybe try bicarbonate of soda it's very cheap and will remove lots of grime it's been around for decades you can buy it at most headwear stores, my dog Monty loves watching Akira and Zoe but gets jealous when he sees them eating. I'm jealous of your warm weather✌
Why don’t you try acid bath the tiles ,then bottle up the acid for other jobs you may have into the future or check out a company local do it and cheap for your budget , did think myself pressure washing – your mortaring wet the area first then make it harder with small grit then get to the stage of smooth rendering
😀
Try a bonding agent
Jasper, how lucky are you to have your followers that give you such great advice many of them are professionals all with good intentions bravo to your fans and to you have a wonderful day
Hi Jasper when you have time check out Andrew channel Real Algarve living Andy and his brother are doing exact same thing you are doing in a slightly different way they are working on the windows and doors Sides they wet everything first before slinging the concrete in place working it Little by Little and given it some time to dry and little by little building the concrete up 👍
My goodness Jasper needed some rat traps Now I see what the dogs are after look at your clip #10.35 you’ll see what I’m talking about a big rat 🐀 Looks like it’s going into the house
Anyone spotted the movement @ 10:35? Something moved across away from J
This video shows how some people do it, it looks like slow work but seems to get the job done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjhrXrAFuFw You may have to lock up Akira to stop her chasing the cement when you miss the wall 😃
Hi Jasper
If you mix in some tiling adhesive,, it sticks very well..
👍🍀💐
You should wet the area you are cementing add some febmix
Keep it up Jasper 🙃🙂, looking good! Just out of curiosity how long did it take to strim your garden?
I found a video of Andrew of the youtube channel Real Algarve Living, who is also doing some framing of doors and windows in his video. Maybe you can learn a few things from his method of doing this. The most important thing is having patience i guess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6MI0BQGwsM
Hi Jasper, first you have to cover the holes of the bricks with cement and stones or pieces of bricks/tiles and let it dry, only then you can put the second layer of cement. As some people have already mentioned, for a better adherence of the cement, you should moisten the surfaces before applying it. Keep up the good work
Did you wet the wall before putting cement on?
Keep at it, Jasper, you will get there. Keep the faith, bro. Happy Daze!
Hi Jasper. You work hard and eat well, more veg.i use frozen mixed vegetables they bulk out a meal and keep you regular. Grass cutting is a never-ending job. Borrow a goat, see Alex. Your doing a good job on the door jambs. The cement when nearly dry score it in a grid pattern this helps cement stick better do it on each layer till you get the level you need. My dad was a patient good teacher, like Alex. It's warming up, water is precious, you may have some in one of your Wells. May need a re- bore then you have your own watersupply. Small jobs ticked off your list. Stay safe Jasper. The flowers on your walk I think are Malllows.not roses. The flower you showed us is like the pink mallow I grew one year in my garden, harvest some seed on your walk, bees love it.
Wet the wall before you apply cement
Add cement wash to wall first.
The flowering scrub when you take the girls for a walk is it cistus (common name rock rose)???????
Hi darling u are doing well ke
Have a nice Sunday 👍
I wouldn't clean the tiles too much. My neighbours paid some people to clean their tiles. In the end the tiles were no longer water-proof. There were micro-cracks in them and by capillary action their attic became wet. In the end they paid for cleaning the old tiles and for buying new tiles… My house has still the tiles from 1951, and they are just good.

Here is a video for an idea on getting air out of your concrete. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeQV2aO7jr8
Those lintels are no good the way you have put them in they need cement on top and underneath them to make them secure as the brickwork above them could collapse with the weight of the roof when you put the tiles on its a badge job as it is .you should build on top of the lintel to make it safe.
You need to put some nails into the surface to act as a key. And then you build up the layers don't try and put it all on in one go
1-minute for each tile I'll need 200 minutes.
Once you cut the grass short it's much easier to maintain it with a lawn mower.
is the person coming expected to live as u do ??????????
Make you mix dry enough where you can almost form it by hand. Apply with a hard rubber float or steel trowel; to press it hard into the old surface.
Wet the old concrete before applying the new.
Use a sponge float to texture it after the concrete starts to set.
