MINI REBUILD PART 22 (battens.. doing it all over again) – Portuguese House Renovation

We are in the middle of renovating our house in an abandoned Portuguese village. Currently we are working on the mini rebuild. In this episode i am redoing the battens.. I started a little but in a rush so towards the end of the day and i made a mistake… So i’m taking them off and putting them back on again. I keep making work for my self. Also i make a good start on cleaning some more roof tiles, a lot more to go though. In the next episode i meeting some other youtubers here in Portugal, what should be interesting 🙂

  1. Hallo Jasper. Als je de panlatten links en rechts langer houd creer je daar ook een overhang.
Het zelfde kun je boven doen.Onder de pallet op zijn kant zetten, dan creeer je dezelfde scheefte met de pan. Veel succes.

  2. Early in the morning before the sun is up cover up the silver roof liner with old sheets / cloth. Remove them as you lay the roof tile. It will block the heat from being reflection and absorbed. Also, wear a long sleeve T shirt. All the landscape workers in Texas wear them and a wide brim hat.

  3. Jasper you are making videos in real time so why don't you when you come to a job you don't really know about , ask the community who are following you. Use the wisdom of crowds!
So maybe it's a good idea to ask some questions before you start a new job we all want you to succeed and I'll willing to share knowledge with you

  4. I heard Andy at finca something say when the tiles are wet he can't do anything to fix his roof because wet tiles break easily. I guess that why the tile broke the other day when you put it on the ground . 🥰

  5. It’s early Sunday morning here, the ensuite shower dripped all night, I “fixed” it yesterday, now I got to fix it again, it’s either that, or listen to my wife complain about the dripping! 😅 Sometimes we got to do things more than once to make it right, don’t feel too bad!

  6. Hi Jasper, your only human…..heat and hard work……your a tryer and that's what we love about you. You do the job right and it will last after you and I are gone from this world. Jasper your a hard worker, a fun loving guy with a big heart. The girls look out for you, stay safe, keep your chin up and drink plenty of water, watter. X

  7. As the building may not be square the easiest way to set the tiles is: 1. Attach the top and bottom battens with your choice of overhang. 2. Leave all other battens loose and arrange the left side adjusting the battens as you go. 3. Do the same on the right side. 4. You can then attach all the other battens and tiles will then adjust themselves with the necessary cm +/-
