MINI REBUILD PART 8 (..fixing the rafter and drinking coffee) – Portuguese House Renovation

We are in the middle of renovating our house in an abandoned Portuguese village. In this episode i reveal the pour of the second part of the window framing.. spoiler..it work out pretty well. Also i finally fix the rafters. For getting the decking for the roof on we first need to take a part of the wall of. I want to let the decking end in the wall a bit, so it needs to be the same height as the rafters. In the next episodes we hope to put in the decking. De lintels will have to wait a little as rain is coming.

My name is Jasper and i bought a house in a Portuguese ghost town. Together with my dogs Zoey& Akira we show you the rebuild of our house en what it is like living the daily life in Central Portugal.

  1. The stone wall ledge in this room is going to make an attractive feature, is is this going to be a room for guests I've missed your comments about its purpose. thanks Jasper. Lana Australia

  2. Someone changed something on the digital video quality 👏👏👏👏 WELL DONE ….I'll enjoy even more watching your adventures. Towards 30 thousands by the end of the year 🙂 …. Let's see if I'm predicting right 😁🙏

  3. You should not have used a half-lap joint on that roof truss. Doing so effectively reduces the strength to a beam half the size. When stressed, it will likely split at the notch you cut. You should have left them full size and placed them side by side. Or butt them together with a metal tube wrapped around them to keep them from falling off the support beam. It’s not as attractive, but it doesn’t compromise the strength.

  4. Buy some solar.. induction stove.. en je bent de bomz.. 😉 mooi werk man daar… 🐶💪🏻
Durf te wedden dat amper iemand heeft gehoord van hybride solar systemen. Met 48 volt lithium backup. Mark my words.. it’s happening 😉
Ps. Je bent echt leuk bezig met die funky muziekjes en time laps 😉 yeah! It almost looks easy..
    Can I buy a Mini..? ✌️🐶

I’ve a large umbrella If you need it … that’s a lot of work to do in two days !
(Hope the camera person does a bit of DIY also ?!! 😀)
    🙏☘️😘

  6. If you let the roof decking contact the walls you will need to water proof the overlapped portion otherwise you will get moisture into the decking very fast as the wall will absorb and release moisture to either the air or the decking

  7. Sad times when family leaves you Dwight will be back…. He’s a chip off the old block… good lad…but time to get busy and fix the place… why don’t you go up 50 cm so all the floor space inside can be bend free… now’s the time to do it…🙃

  8. Hi Jasper, you got a lot done. Beam fixed, walls leveling and coffee pouring nicely. Girls are happy your ticking things off that mini list. Stay safe and you will beat the rain. Use your tarm to cover your boards on the roof, don't want them warping..see you tomorrow. 😉
