We considered moving to several other countries before moving to Portugal from the USA. We even did a trial run in one of the countries while waiting out travel restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. For us, when considering these countries, Portugal always came out on top.

I have recently decided to become an expat from the US upon retirement. I'm 3 years out. I have been watching many videos (and reading quite a bit) on leaving the US and found your videos: precise (not rambling), enjoyable, informative and fun. May I suggest when you speak about locations/foods in Portugal you put the written spelling of the location/item. It helps in further research. I have not started language training yet. Thank you for all your work in creating these videos. Looking forward to many more videos from you.
I think you were spot on on your choice about Portugal being your dream retirement destination. It was kinda sour sweet watching your video though. I love all those tropical countries you’ve visited but just if i were on a vacations mode. I wouldn’t mind staying there for a long vacation but otherwise i would get too stressed if my neighbor was grilling fish in his balcony specially it were next to mine. Also, the infrastructure and healthcare systems are still way afar from western standards. In Portugal one can enjoy a four season’s climate (if you’re lucky enough you can even enjoy a white xmas) , easy access to London, Paris and Rome ( … like 90 min flights), … and perhaps most important of all, very affordable housing, food and free healthcare. Oh, did I
mention that Portugal is a member of the European Union and has to follow its high standards?

Very helpful video as i am trying to decide on a few places to go to as well . Safety is number one than cost of living then weather are the main criteria Thank you

When I narrowed where I wanted to retire, the number one questions I had to say yes to was "would I go on a vacation there?" Portugal was always a yes.

Portugal hands down!!! So, it was easy for us because my husband is French and I am an American with French residency…Our first trip to Portugal and we were sold! We've traveled extensively in Europe, but never wanted to move anywhere but Portugal…It's a feeling I 'home'!! I totally agree that France is too expensive and has become unaffordable! I love that you looked at so many countries, but for me everything just happens and evolves…We are so sold on our 'home' here I'm Portugal that we are in the process of buying a home! ❤Lisboa
